chevron walls

has anyone done them?

thinking of doing a large grey chevron print. I was imagining the whole room but now wondering if just a feature wall might be less chaotic looking.

also if you have done them, any tips? looks like a headache to mark out :)

Re: chevron walls

  • We are doing chevron white and light grey curtains (my MIL is sewing them) with light yellow walls and solid yellow crib bedding with a chevron white and grey crib skirt and probably some pillows to match (for the rocker). I hope it will look just as cute as it does in my mind. I never even thought of painting the chevron print on the wall...DH and I are not painters so we knew we'd just do a solid yellow.

I think there are some good pointers and tips on Pinterest...or just ask at your local home store.

  • I wanted to do one chevron wall.  But, I'm glad we decided against it.  DH had a hard enough time doing the stripes across the entire room.  I can't even imagine how long it would have taken him to do the chevron pattern. Plus, our room is pretty small and I was afraid it would look smaller with such a busy wall. Instead, we chose to use the chevron in the curtains that my mom made and on the bedding (it's on the backside of the quilt that is on the chair and the crib skirt).  This is the finished portion of the room.  I'll post more when the whole room is done.

  • I like the sound of this!  I would only do 1 wall (or a section of 1 wall), or you may get dizzy in there.

It will be a pain the a** though.  I painted just a few simple stripes on one wall, and that took forever making sure everything was level.

    How about chevron wall paper?

  • jobiann that sounds really lovely!

love the aqua chevron too, looks gorgeous.

so funny, I'm tossing up yellow or aqua as accent colours too!

I thought about wallpaper, but my son just absolutely destroyed his wallpaper in his room so I'm worried about it happening again. Also expensive, but it may be worth it to save the painting headache.

Beautiful room! Ours maybe panel curtains instead of the short ones (I know they have a name but I forget it now.)

  • Map out your wall into a grid first so that you have squares that are the exact size. THEN take your painters tape and tape it diagonally from one corner to the other in every square. That will ensure that they're all the same size and even. =) Paint from there!
