Once Upon a Child

I have a whole bunch of stuff to take to Once Upon a Child.  An exersaucer, 2 bouncy seats, a Bumbo & some clothes.  Everything is in really good shape.  Anyone have any idea what they give back for items?  A little extra cash would be great right now but is it really worth the 45 minute ride & dragging a 14 month old with Me?  Or should I just bring the stuff to the free table at work?

Re: Once Upon a Child

  • Excersaucer- 15-20

    bouncy seat- 10

    bumbo-7

I'm just basing this on about 1/2 of what they would sell it for (I'm assuming they double what they buy it for to make their profit)

  • You may be better off, profit wise, selling on craigslist....if you don't mind doing that. That way half of the profit isn't going to the consignment store.

  • I've not taken anything there but my friend just got $15 for a full-size swing. I was pretty surprised by that.

  • I took two smaller bags of clothes and a jumperoo last weekend and walked away with $24 and change.  The jumperoo they did reject thought, because there was battery corrosion in the compartment (did not know this, didn't even think of it) so will clean it up and try again.  With the Bumbo recall, did you do whatever was needed to 'fix' that problem (realizing of course, that the real issue is that you can't fix stupid)?

  • The one near me said they pay you 30% of what they will sell it for.  Maybe check for a large consignment sale.  There is one by me called Cradle to College that pays 70% of what it sells for.  I think there are national ones as well.

  • You can take your Bumbo to any Target and get a full refund on a GC.

  • I second the craigslist idea if you feel like the time. overall i think the larger consignment sales are better than the stores. i found a local sale through this site

Here is a price guide as well: https://consignmentmommies.com/Resources/ClothingGuide.htm

  • Maybe see about the consignment sales as others have suggested. Just between friends is another one by us.

  • Have you checked on Facebook to see if your town has a town-wide "garage sale"?  Our town has one: there's a page that you go to and you can upload a picture of the item with your price.  Anyone that wants it can message you to let you know.  People seem to have great results and get some decent prices.
