My doctor's office called a little bit ago to say that they have to confirm with the hospital but that the date they are looking at to induce me is Dec 26th. when she is on call at the hospital.
This is less than a week away from my due date. At first they were talking about inducing me at 38 weeks. I told the nurses that if it is that close to my due date I'd rather just wait until I actually go into labor unless I have a major issue with high BP or something else.
The nurse said she'd check with the doctor about this but plan on that being my induction date.
Now the reason my doctor said for inducing me is because I have a blood clotting disorder which I have been on blood thinners and potential to have high BP. I am stopping the blood thinners at 37 weeks so in case I go into labor on my own and want an Epi I can do so w/o a risk. My BP has been great for quiet some time and it hasn't shown any signs of going up at all. It's conistantly been around 110/68-70.
I guess I just feel like I need more of a reason to be induced.
Re: Induction date...what do you think?
I don't mean to sound too practical or anything... but having the baby in 2008 means that you get to claim him/her on your taxes!!! HUGE plus.
Go for the induction, girl. WOOT!
LOL doodle, you sound like my DH. He keeps telling me " I don't know why this is such a big deal to you. If we have the baby in December we can save like $3000 on our taxes."

I would see how you feel and what the doctor says after you go off the blood thinners. Def let him know that you would rather let things happen naturally, but you might not feel that way once you are off the medication.
Doodle brings up a very good point as well.
lol.

I'd want more of a reason to be induced, too. Honestly, it sounds suspiciously like that date is convenient for your Dr. JMO, but personally I wouldnt want to be induced unless there was a good medical reason.?
?Which hospital are you delivering at btw? One of the "dales"??
I think it sounds to me like you don't want to induce unless it's necessary. So, tell your doctor that. Go of the meds. See how it goes.
I vote no induction, unless you move it to like the 27th or 28th. I have three friends whose birthdays are the 26th of December and all of them say that it's the world's worst birthdate b/c you get tons of "combined" birthday/Christmas presents or birthday presents wrapped in Christmas paper... or your birthday just plain forgotten in the hustle and bustle.
Aside from that (admittedly ridiculous) reason, I'm in the "no inductions unless it's medically necessary and your body is in a favorable position for induction" camp.
I'm with those who are in the "wait and see" camp. I know that I don't want to be induced unless it's a medical necessity, and it sounds like you could end up that way. But, without knowing you'll end up that way first, I wouldn't want to be induced "just because." Also, it sounds like you have a workable plan that your doctor should be open to hearing (going off the meds, waiting and seeing).
Good luck!
Emilie,
No I am delivering at Woodwinds. It's closer to our house than any of the 'dales.
