Trouble TTC

something to help us smile..

Remember the good old days when you had no idea what cervical mucus was; you didn?t chart your temperature first thing in the morning and you never had a full emotional breakdown if your husband was unavailable during your peak ovulation period. Infertility has made you weird. Remember the days when you used birth control pills so you wouldn?t get pregnant? When your older cousin announced her pregnancy and you didn?t burst into tear? When you would walk past a pregnant woman without glaring and feeling jealous of her baby bump? Your life has now changed. Oh, how it has changed. You now know your husband?s exact sperm count and the rate of his motility (But doctor, his count was 1 million during our last appointment and his motility has gone up 10%). You now use words like ?cervical mucus? and ?ovulation? as if they are common words (I think I saw cervical mucus last month so I guess I ovulated. Do you think I could be pregnant, co-worker who I don?t really know?). You now have fertility medication in your refrigerator, right next to the milk and last night?s leftover quiche  (LMAO love this one). You google all your fake pregnancy symptoms including (and not limited to): I have a cold. Am I pregnant? Strange twitches on left side. Am I pregnant? My right breast feels more swollen than my left. Am I pregnant already?

1. You sob every time someone posts a belly photo on Facebook.

2. A pregnancy announcement from your friend or a complete stranger can send you into an equal depression.

3. You have FertilityAuthority.com and whythehellamInotpregnant.com bookmarked on your computer.

4. You refuse to buy tampons/pads, just in case you might be pregnant this month (and your underwear suffers).

5. You stop drinking coffee and then drink as much as you can once your period arrives.

6. Seeing a drop in your basal temperature makes you inconsolably upset. You listen to Michael Bolton songs and it makes you think of your infertility journey.

6. You feel relieved to see another woman carry a tampon into the bathroom stall.

Infertility has made your weird. But it?s not your fault. Blame infertility.

  • Great!  # 3 gives me two more websites to bookmark!  Now that I've taken care of that, fits to a T.

    Thanks for the giggle.

Can't figure out the signature thing, so here's the short, short version.....first daughter born on November 10, 2013. She was conceived through the magic of IVF after 2+ years of TTC.
  • I love your pup in siggy and LOVE this post. I just about died when I got to 4,5, and especially 6. Except no Michael Bolton lol. I remember a few cycles ago I had to go to Walmart at 10:30 at night because I refused to buy anymore pads/tampons. My husband totally side-eyed me that night dragging him out lol.

THanks for posting this. Big Smile

  • Thank-you for taking the time to post this!  On a day where everything that could go wrong went wrong, I needed this laugh!

TTC 8/1/11 Met with RE: 9/7/12; starting with BW on next CD3 and HSG between CD7-11. Husband has SA 9/21/12; meth with RE 10/11-diagnosed with Male fertility issues 1% chance of getting pregnant naturally, only IVF.  Insurance doesn't cover IVF, took a break from trying until we could save the money.
June 19-Begin injections for IVF Round 1- only 1 egg dropped, fertilized but did not attach
August 8-Begin IVF round 2, more aggressive, 10 egges, all 10 fertilized, implanted 1, froze 4
September 14-got the call that we are expecting!!!

  • Spot on (except Michael Bolton)!  Definitely made me smile.  I feel like I totally glare at baby bellies and then immediately want to cry.  When my period started last cycle, I literally tore the house apart and went through every single purse/bag/random drawer to find one of those hidden tampons.
2 year TTC journey with successful IVF in Nov 2012- B/G Twins!
Baby Boy diagnosed with omphalocele and diaphragmatic hernia
Born at 32 weeks due to PROM.  Emergency c-section due to prolapsed cord.
Said Goodbye to our sweet Bennett after 5 short hours.
Spent 35 days in the NICU with our little girl.
