Re: What's cookin'? Snacks!

  • Love these "features".  Smile

I have been working out a lot (just hit 1000 miles on my bike this summer!) and need protein.  So my favorite snack is a smoothie, with frozen blueberries, frozen banana, Greek yogurt, soy milk, and maple sugar.  I know many people don't add sweetener to smoothies, but the maple sugar is delicious and makes them more milkshakey and less healthy-tasting.  Wink

  • I'm a chocolate girl at heart - this weekend we made a chocolate stout cake and it was DIVINE!

When I try to eat healthier, I like greek yogurt with honey and berries, cheese sticks, smoothies with protein powder, a little PB, ice, and milk.  I also like eating fresh raspberries by themselves.

And since it's almost fall, I'm really looking forward to Costco pumpkin pie with whipped cream. :D

  • I like a piece of whole wheat bread with a good amount of nutella on it. yum. Or nutella on a crunchy pretzel. :)

  • I've been in a pb&j mood - I have it for breakfast instead of toast (bc it actually keeps me full) and again during DS's snack (who usually has pb&h). I'm sure I'll get tired of it soon, but right now it's deeeelish!

    Come home, baby A!
  • This time of year I love to bake an apple with a little cinnamon and just a teaspoon of melted vanilla ice cream on top if I'm being bad.

I also like the chobani champions kids yogurt (especially the orange) with a graham cracker crushed up in it.

My am snack every day is cottage cheese with sunflower seeds and strawberries.

  • I usually have a cheese stick or fruit if in the house for a snack.  Sometimes a granola bar.  My lunch almost everyday is a Fage Yogurt with honey and nuts since that provides a ton of protein.  When in a chip mood I really like Food Should Taste Good Sweet Potato Chips.  Thanks goodness I just ate dinner because otherwise I would be getting hungry after reading eveyone's responses.

  • I like to make an almond butter and honey sandwich and then grill it up like grilled cheese. SO good. Not super healthy with all that butter, but mmmmmm...

If you're looking for more of a party snack, these are my two favorites:

Buffalo Chicken Dip  -- serve with tortilla chips

    Tomato Bacon Cups

Both of these are party favorites, and people request that we bring them for potluck dinners! :)

  • Google playgroup granola bars. They're the best. They rarely stay in our house for more than a day or 2

These look amazing. I'm going to have to give them a try!

  • Also, I don't know how you ladies can stand Greek yogurt. Bleh. Too sour for me. I like my good, old fashioned regular sugar-filled yogurt.

  • A peanut, honey and banana sandwich (with a little cinnamon on top).

When I am trying to be healthy, I enjoy grapes.

Mother of two wonderful boys! Blessed through adoption.

  • I love flavored triscuits, like the rosemary and olive oil, topped with cream cheese and a slice of cucumber.  mmmmmm ... delicious!

  • I don't have a favorite snack, because I always want an entire meal, or Tiramisu, or a Dr Pepper, but I just had to tell you that your posts are the best and you guys are so cute! Just saw you blog!
