Numbness in hand?

In the past couple of weeks, I've been experiencing occasional numbness in my left hand. It primarily occurs upon waking, so I thought maybe I was just sleeping on it wrong, but recently it's been occuring randomly during the day as well.
And it's only my left hand, which is my non-dominant hand.

It's not painful, but it's like my whole hand goes numb and I have to shake it out and flex it a lot to get the feeling back into it.

Never experienced anything like this before. Anyone else having or had this issue? I'm going to discuss with my doctor at my next appt, but that's a couple of weeks away.

I had this through my pregnancy and the first couple of months post partum. Carpal tunnel is a common pregnancy symptom although I never really understood why. If it gets bad, there are wrist braces you can try or occupational therapy is an option.

I have read that because your tissues are all swelling up with extra blood and fluid, it is not uncommon to get carpal tunnel or CT-like sensations in one or both wrists. But why not call your ob for peace of mind?

Yep. Welcome to the second half of my first pregancy. I ended up have to get wrist braces to wear at night and other to wear during the day. Carpal tunnel is a big issue for lots of ladies during pregnancy.

I had carpal tunnel in both wrist with both of my previous pregnancies. I wore wrist braces at night and this helped. This is caused by swelling. My ankles never did swell, but my wrist did. You couldn't tell to look at them, but that is why the carpal tunnel. It was not as bed with my 2nd because I wasn't working and typing all the time.

I have this in my left hand too (non-dominant hand). But only the fingertips to knuckle get numb. Mine is pretty constant now. Doctor said capel tunnel. Just trying to deal for now. May have to ask for more help if it gets bothersome in next few weeks.

Mine is getting worse as my pregnancy progresses. I had to wake up and shake out my left hand about 6x last night.

I have this issue in my right hand all the time and a bit on my thigh. Dr. said really nothing I can do but have the baby. She said the same thing get a wrist wrap and sleep with that. It is strange and I don;t think it making a difference

Yep! That's me too! It's my right hand... and wowzer's does it hurt! Mine has been consistent at night (it wakes me up) and when I first get up in the morning. I do plan on talking to my Dr. about getting a brace at my next appointment on the 24th. I swear I have all the weird pregnancy symptoms!

I've been experiencing pregnancy related carpal tunnel syndrome for weeks now. My hands go numb or tingle when I sleep, drive, type, play on my iPhone too long...

I will not miss this part of being pregnant at all.
