... I breastfeed, yes... but that doesn't mean I am anti-formula or I judge those that choose not to breastfeed.... because I most certaintly do not. Breastfeeding is a personal choice and formula is a perfectly healthy substitute if breastfeeding isn't an option or desire. However, when mothers who couldn't/didn't want to breastfeed make ignorant and completely FALSE comments like this......
"Plus formula these days is 99.9% the same as breast milk. They broke down breast milk and copied it."
It really makes me want to go postal.
(Not a Bump comment. It was said during a Facebook discussion.)
Re: I am NOT a "breastfeeding nazi" .....
Obviously it will never be as good as BM because something man made can't be as good as something nature made and people do need to know that.
Plus, I think people gotta know that! Formula cans are stamped with breast is best. It's everywhere!
My favorite "reason" for ppl not breast feeding is that they and their H are lactose intolerant, do of course baby won't be able to handle milk.
**headdesk**
I get this sentiment from my mom a lot. She nannies for a woman who chose not to breastfeed from the beginning, and instead uses prescription formula. As a result, I get pro-formula crap my mom all.the.time. She also criticizes anything I do to try to educate myself about breastfeeding ahead of time (reading books, talking to other moms, going to LLL meetings, hiring a doula).
She breastfed, but didn't have (or seek out) resources when she had trouble, so I think she really disliked it and felt "guilted" into doing it. Consequently she thinks that the only reason I want to BF is because I'm being "brainwashed" into it.
Just because I want to BF and I'm trying to empower myself to be successful doesn't mean I'm up on a pedestal about it. I've actually stopped talking to my mom about BF because she acts like she's offended any time I mention it. So much for getting support from my mother...ugh...
Whatever, man. Gummy bears are delicious. I keep trying to plant one and it won't grow into that gummy bear bush I've always wanted. Screw nature.
It's a girl!
exactly. I'm lactose intolerant and when I was a baby, the ONLY solution for me was breastmilk since formula was almost entirely cow's milk based at the time. That, of course, has changed in the last 30+ years but still...
LMAO. But true
