The nosefrida

Is absolutely disgusting, but the most effective thing EVER. I'm kind of in love with it, even though it makes me want to puke.

Anyone else have a love/hate relationship with their nosefrida?

Re: The nosefrida

  • Yes! It's so disgusting and so amazing at the same time. The first time I used it on him LO thought it was hilarious. Then he realized what I was doing and was no longer quite as amused (meaning he now screams bloody murder when I use it). Tough t!tties kiddo, those boogers are mine!

  • I agree! A friend recommended it and I thought she was crazy, but it works so much better than the nasal bulb. You just have to get passed the idea. :P

Ahhh ahahahah! L was the same way! He looked at me and smiled then was like WTF LADY?! He screamed his head off! Then passed out after (his stuffy nose kept waking him up) and hasn't been up since. I think, for me, this might have solved our sleeping problem lately.

And, yeah, the amount I sucked out with that thing was incredible.

This totally. I'd written it off as disgusting, but these last couple days he has woken up stuffy and the bulb gets nothing. I broke down and bought one today.. my H laughed at me then acted like I was crazy.

  • When I got it, DH specifically said that I would be the only booger sucker in the house. That is until our son became a snot machine.

Here's a gross question. How do you know when it's time to change the filter?

I change the filter once a day, if I'm using it multiple days in a row. I usually just toss it at the end of the day.

  • I don't know! I just read my box and it says in the cleaning directions to throw away/replace the filter. It doesn't say after a certain amount of uses/a certain time period. I would assume it depends on how often you use the thing.

  • Damn it, I really should get one huh? A gets so stuffy and now she's gotten great and pushing away the nasal bulb and blocking her face. I just can't get over the gross. But I need to, because the boogers this kid gets are like worse than mine. Uggggggggh

  • Yes, disgusting, but very effective!  DH also refuses to use it because 'I'd probably throw up' he says.  I change the filter after a few uses.   I don't use it everyday.

Yep, you put your mouth on the end of this tube and suck. It has a filter for the boogers to collect in, but his didn't even get far past the tip of the thing so there was no chance of them making it all the way to the filter. It is gross looking, and makes the most disgusting sound but WORKS. It's amazing.

Yes, you should! I'm impressed you could get anything out with the bulb. We have like 4 different kinds (all from the hospital) and I couldn't get jack. The nosefrida is like a vacuum for boogers, it's awesome.

This is awesome! I never thought to use it that long, but now I'm realizing why the heck not?!

  • Love it. It has been a lifesaver and now my husband recommends it to all his patients. We need to get him an endorsement deal.

They do a 1 for 1 thing like Toms does. You can recommend a certain location to receive the donated nosefridas! You should totally register your H's hospital/practice.

Cool, I will check it out! He totally emailed asking if they need a doctor to be their "doctor recommended!" guy.

  • Question: I've been throwing out the filters after each use. Do you think they could be washed and then sanitized in one of the Medela steam bags?

Honestly, I'll be the disgusting slob who admits I haven't changed the filter yet.... But seriously, none of the gunk ever gets past the tip, so I'm not sure what could possibly be in the filter causing me to need to change it yet.

Another thought on sanitizing them is to maybe soak them in rubbing alcohol and then let them dry?
