Reflux question!

I have a few questions regarding reflux if anyone can help that would be ggrreeaatt!

1. Can it be developed this late? I always felt like she had it but never that bad but lately she has been having the silent reflux thing were you hear spit up but nothing comes out. Also, she has actually been spitting up more too and lastly, she will do a random cry out/arch her back (this is only occasionally and sometimes while going to sleep so I don't know if it is related)

2. Does reflux affect (effect? I never remember which one is which!) sleeping habits? When I started noticing these symptoms more is when her sleep went to crap, so just curious if anyone has noticed a correlation.

Thank yoooouu!!!

Re: Reflux question!

  • I don't know if it can develop late but I can say that it most definitely can affect sleep, at least in L's case. When she started Zantac at 6 weeks our life started to get better. L has silent reflux, she doesn't spit up a lot but some days more than others.

Hope D feels better! And just be persistent with the doctor if you think that's what it is. I had to insist and tell 2 different doctors I thought she had reflux. Luckily the second one was willing to treat it. good luck!

  • Grayson had a nursing strike about a month ago and would scream when he would BF.  They put him on zantac and he got better within 24 hours.  I asked the pedi the same question and she said that it is common to develop reflux later.  The sleep stuff could be reflux, or the dreaded 4MW :(

at first I was thinking 4MW but it has been over a month now with no improvment (we had one good night on Monday but I think it was a fluke) But I talked to the pedi (who is also my employer, so it was kind of easy) and we are starting her on meds tomorrow to see if there is any improvement! Thank you!

I know I could have just talked to the pedi first but I feel better getting others opinions and experiences first.. so thanks!
