10w appt

So I have my 1st appt this Friday, one day shy of 10 weeks. I won't get an ultrasound until 20 weeks, so we will hear the hb first by doppler. Wondering if it is wise for me to even have the dr try, since I know I'll worry if they can't find it. Thoughts? Anyone else heard their LO at 10 weeks?

    I just heard the baby's heartbeat today at my first midwife appointment.  Took her a minute to find it but once she did it was pretty clear.

    I had my 1st appt yesterday and the Doc couldn't find HB. I then did go in for an ultrasound later that day just to be sure. It would have been very difficult for me if we were not able to confirm by ultrasound on the same day! I had a 3 hour gap between my appt and ultrasound and that drove me insane.

    Thanks for the input. :) I just noticed that your daughter's name is Syndey Jo. My DD is Signe Jo (pronounced Sig-nee Jo) Everyone thinks it's Sydney when we say it. :) Love the middle name Jo.

    I found it myself at 10 weeks on a home doppler, but it took some looking and patience. Some docs don't have the time for that so if they don't find it in a minute they quit looking. The doctor I see now doesn't even use a doppler, she has an ultrasound in each exam room and checks the heartbeat that way. Definitely preferable to waiting and worrying!!!

    I heard at my 9 week appt last time. The doctor was surprised and sd say they can't always hear that soon. I'll have a 9 week 1 day appt next and they'll try with Doppler again. Good luck!!

    I went for my first appointment on Monday, at 9w3d.  The doc warned us that it might take a while to find, but she found it right away!  180bpm.  If she couldn't find it, I planned to request an u/s, but I didn't need to.  Good luck!
