Pregnant after 35

maternit21

Hi!  i am 37yo, pregnant with my third and considering getting the test. Anyone have experience with this?  how long did the results take? thanks!

Re: maternit21

  • Hi! I did MaterniT21 at 16 weeks. My quad screen came back with a 1:15 chance of DS. It is completely non-invasive. We opted to do it because the level II u/s showed no marker's for Down's. They drew 2 vials of blood. I paid $235 and got results in 6 business days.

  • I am starting the MaterniT21 process at my next ob app't in about two weeks. I will be 12w1d at the blood draw. I have been warned my insurance will not pay and I will be on the hook for anywhere from $235 to $465. I am doing it in conjunction with a first-tri NT scan+bloodwork (PAPP-A and HCG) in the hopes of getting a somewhat more definitive answer that will allow me to avoid an amnio. I figure if the screen is bad (lousy odds) but my test results come back negative, I will be reassured and skip the amnio. If the MT21 comes back positive I will do an amnio to confirm.

  • What will you do with this info?  Im asking because Im 39 and pregnant with number 2. Im due in feb.  I just had quad screen done and Dr wants me to have Anatomy scan done and additional genetic counseling, because quad screen came back with elevated risk for DS. based on my age alone there is a 1:107 chance, but the "caculated risk" is now 1:100.    Im have the A/S done the last week in sept and hopefully after they factor in all the markers they will be looking for in the scan my risk will be decreased.....ughhh...right now Im just so emotional.
  • I had the test done when I had the NT plus blood test at 12 weeks.  I got the results in a week. I wanted to avoid an amnio or CVS and wanted something that could confirm the findings from the NT plus blood test.  It just helped me rest easier.

  • I am 37 and pregnant with my 4th.  I had the blood draw yesterday at 12 weeks 5 days.  My OB said that you should wait until after 12 weeks to have it done because there is more of the baby's blood floating around in there by then.  If you have it done too early,  the test may not detect any blood from your baby and you would need to have the test done again.  I had an NT plus blood test done at 11 weeks 3 days and it came back negative or with very good odds, but I just want to be sure.
  • We used it to confirm the 12 week screen and avoid an amnio , it was painless and the results were clear. If your insurance says the won't pay, think uhc, just call the company they are limiting the cost for parents to the 235 up front.
