Gender Reveal Party

Is anyone planning on having a fun gender reveal or even a party? Husband and I are planning not to have the u/s tech write the gender on a piece of paper at the anatomy scan and having a friend fill a box with either pink or blue balloons.  When we open the box and the balloons fly out, then we'll know!  We'll take pictures to make announcements.

Anyone else have any fun gender reveal ideas?

Re: Gender Reveal Party

  • We are putting pink and blue rocks over our lawn when the person flips over the right rock they get to peek in the balloon box and the balloons will be released at the end of the party
  • i think we are giving our envelope to the local baker and having them make the cake where the inside is pink or blue and finding out with all our family that way. i can't think of anything very original

  • I'm going to send my mom pink/blue flowers to her job.

At my office I'll bring in cupcakes or cake pops that are all vanilla.  One of them will have a pink or blue center, so the person who gets that one will have to announce for me.

Not going to have an official party or anything.

I considered doing the box with the balloons and taking pictures, but I think H might just kill me if I make him do another photo op.  We did an announcement photo and we'll do a Christmas photo so one in between might be a bit much :P

  • I just plan on screaming it at the top of my lungs.  The only downside is, that I'm supposed to get the u/s at 19 weeks, but my 19 weeks falls on the Canadian Thanksgiving - I'd love to know before Thanksgiving so I could tell everyone when we're together over the holiday.

Ditto this!  My next u/s is at 18 weeks which is two weeks AFTER Thanksgiving.  DH's family and I are all going away to a resort for the weekend, and it would have been so nice to be able to reveal it to them all there!

  • We are finding out at our a/s.  I plan on sending my mom a balloon bouquet of either pink or blue at work since she lives in another state.  I want to find a cute poem or saying that I can text to my sister and SILs.  For MIL I haven't figured it out yet.  She lives in the same place we do, so I might hand deliver a balloon or flowers.  DH will probably tell FIL by text or phone call.  And I'll probably call my dad.  Nothing super exciting.  DH hates the idea of a party to reveal the gender.  It was all I could do to get him to promise not to text his mom so we can tell her in person.

  • We're probably not going to do anything.  We'll most likely find out the gender at the doctor's office and then Skype with our parents.  I think if we lived in the same city (or even state) as our families then we'd do something fun.

We are doing the same.  I did see a cute cupcake thing on pinterest last night.  They had cupcakes and the filling was pink or blue.  I thought that was cute becasue everyone could bite.  DH liked the cake.
