Wondering if anyone knows of a lab in Austin, TX or area that will draw for this test. My OB gave me the paperwork but I can't find a lab that has even heard of it.
My peri gave me the kit (which you need to send to sequenom) and then I went to CPL. I live north and the location on Jolleyville did it for me, but only because the nurse at the Peri's office was having problems sticking me.
You might ask your OB for the kit or call sequenom and see if they can help you out.
Who is your OB? They might need to work with a peri's office.
I called CPL in RR today and they told me they don't do it! I just put another call into the OB so hopefully they can figure it out for me. Thank you so much for the response.
I'm a couple weeks away from finding that out, but wanted to say hello to fellow Austinites. <wave, wave>

I use Dr. Meredith Davenport in Kyle. She has the staff to draw it in her office. Her office # is 512.268.2214.
You can also call Sequenom (maker of MaterniT21) directly at 877-821-7266 and they can tell you where to get it drawn. They were great with me on the phone. If your insurance company doesn't cover it, but you have insurance, it is no more than $475 for you. They will take $50/Month payments also.

CPL just did the draw for me, I had to bring the kit with me from the dr, and drop it at fedex myself.
Ok I did get it all figured out. amycathy, you are right...my wording was wrong when I was calling the lab. I asked "Can you do the MateriT21 test?" They replied "No, it is not FDA approved" and all sorts of stuff. So I called the OB again and she said "Somebody had blood drawn at that lab on Aug. 15th". So I called back and told the employee this and he said "Well I called the owner and she said we don't do it." I said that all they would have to do is DRAW my blood and then send it away, they don't have to perform any testing." Apparently this cleared it up and he said "Oh, ok we can do that as long as you bring the kit with you."
Seriously, that took up my whole morning! Anyway, I will go tomorrow for the blood draw. If anyone is interested it is at a place called ANY LAB TEST NOW on 620 near the RR hospital. Any lab test except for the one you want apparently!
I'm in Austin too, and was wondering the same. I plan to ask my OB at my next appointment. Good to read all of your experiences though so I know what I'll probably need to do! Thanks!

Your OB should have the kit in stock.
