Hiccups

My son seems to get hiccups a lot (at least once a day).  He is only a week old.  I have heard there pretty much isn't anything we can do to help him...is that right or have you guys found other ways to help soothe this?  The doctor said it doesn't bother him but I know how annoying hiccups are to me so I figure they have to be somewhat annoying to him too.  Thank You! :)

Re: Hiccups

  • My baby is 6 weeks and he still gets them all the time.  The doctor said the only way to avoid them is to not feed him, joking of course!  It's normal and there really isn't anything you can do.

  • I'm BF and if he has the hiccups for a long time, I'll end up trying to BF, even if it's just for a few minutes. Seems to make them go away. I've tried giving him a pacifier but that doesn't always work. Most of the time after some time they're gone on their own.

  • My son gets hiccups a lot too. We give him a vitamin D supplement every day, since he's BF. We have found that giving him the vitamin D gets rid of his hiccups. So it's only a cure once a day, but it works for us!
