Any LOs out there have an adverse reaction?
We gave Bo his first ounce of WCM tonight Mixed with BM! He gulped it down! I just looked adverse WCM reactions in 12 month child on bing and waaaaa waaaa weee wooo!! It is alarming.. I feel awful now that I gave Bo WCM 8 days before he is *actually* one. So far, he has not shown any signs of intolerance of anything I have given him via BM transmission or solid; I *think* we will be in the clear...but you never know what the night has in store for us!?!
My H thinks I am over thinking this WCM...after all; it is *only* eight days before Bo is the big numero uno!
Re: Adverse WCM reaction ?
"What did my fingers do before they held you? What did my heart do with it's love?"
All of this.
Our pedi was very strict with us to not start WCM til after his 12 month appt so that's what we are doing buttt I know several friends/family members who's Drs had them start at 11/11.5 months and all of their kids did fine. DS's one friend even has their lo taking a little WCM at 10.5 months.
No need to worry, I'm sure Bo will be fine
I took O to the dr for something a few weeks before her 1 year check up, and the pedi said to try it. We did and she gulped it down, just straight WCM.
No adverse reactions, although her poop is smellier now lol.
She still only gets 1 snack with WCM, working on leading up to all WCM, but I didn't want to take another bottle away until after our trip!

I wouldn't worry at all. WCM isn't like honey or peanuts where there could be serious issues, its just that a lot of younger babies don't tolerate it well which is what makes them sick. If you give it to a 3 month old for a long time, then yes they could end up having major issues, but I don't think what you read applies to older babies. My pedi said most can digest it just fine by 10 mo or so, but they tell parents to wait til 12 mo because very very few babies can't digest it at that point.
And as already said, there's nothing magical that happens in those last 8 days that make a difference. If he likes it, go with it!
Don't worry, one isn't a magic number on this one!
Here pedis are fine with it starting in small amounts at 9 months, the one year mark is so that people will not replace formula or breastmilk with milk before babies are ready for all solid nutrition.
Phew! He is doing great! It was actually really cute to see him like it so much!!! What a big boy! First he eats solids like a grown man and now some cold cow's milk!!! What a day!
You're over thinking it. Yes he can have adverse reactions, but I really wouldn't worry about it happening because you're "8 days early," My friend's pedi just told her at her daughter's 9 month appt. that she could start introducing it so hopefully that makes you feel better.
We have had adverse reactions (horrible- think screaming- gas pains, loose stools and rash). We actually think DD might be sensitive to dairy in general. Hopefully cutting it out will avoid the current plan of tubes! So yes, some have reactions but I don't think 8 days before 1 would be any different then actually 1
FWIW our first milk try was a bit past 11 months, second was just after 12 months. Same reaction both times.
