Ds was going outside to play at his in home daycare, I guess he missed the step off the deck and fell. Dh picked him up and he was playing in just a diaper when I got home from work and didn't notice it. I went to give ds a bath and his entire butt is bruised and purple and red! Now I have a long history working in the medical field and I'm pretty confident he's fine. But man, even up by his hips is purple.. I feel so bad. Would you call the dr? I know its just a bruise, but its his whole butt. I'm hoping it will look a little better by morning, doesn't seem to bother him. Poor guy.

Awww, poor little guy, that sounds like one heck of a bruise! If it will give you peace of mind, no reason not to give the doctor a quick call tomorrow and at least describe the situation to the nurse and see what they recommend. I probably wouldn't call if it were DD and she were acting normally (i.e. playing and moving around normally, not favoring one leg over the other), but if you are worried, just call.

Poor baby! I can't imagine how he must have fallen to get that kind of a bruise. Hope it's okay and doesn't hurt him too much.

Poor little guy! It seems odd that he would fall on his butt if he missed a step. You'd think it would be more natural to fall forwards. I agree with PP's though. If he's moving around fine and doesn't show other signs of pain (like if he hurt his tailbone) I'd see how the bruise looks in a day or so and take it from there.

As for calling the doctor, I would wait and see if it seems to be causing him much discomfort.

If it'll make you feel any better, we also had our first big boo boo the day before yesterday. I was in my bedroom when DH brought me DD2, screaming with a mouth full of blood (!!!). He didn't see exactly what happened, but it seems like DD somehow tried to crawl but her hands got stuck underneath her so she face planted in the floor.Poor little thing
