Please help me with co-sleeping logistical problems

hi, I've been home with ds the past seven months and just went back to work a few weeks ago. we were cosleeping for most naps and most of the time at night. (after bed time routine ds would start in crib, sleep for three hours, wake, i'd nurse him put back in crib, he'd sleep two more hours in crib then when he woke again i'd keep him in bed with me for the rest of the night). well ever since we lowered the crib on his eight month birthday when he started being more mobile, he doesnt want to sleep in crib at all. he also won't nap for my mom when she watches him while i'm at work. so now i come home at 3:30 and he nurses to sleep and is done for the night except for waking to nurse every 2-3 hours which is a problem in itself that i don't get any awake time with him. but even bigger of a problem, he wont let me move him to the crib or he cries and i can't leave him on the bed by himself anymore because if i leave he ends up getting up half asleep and moves around bed and could fall off (we have a toddler bedrail for when i'm sleeping next to him.) he is too quick to even leave him and watch on the video monitor. so that makes me trapped there from 3:30 until dh comes home from work at about 8. i want to be able to get things done while he is sleeping. what can i do?

also he wont nap for my mom anywhere except for a catnap in the stroller. the weather is getting cooler and i don't know how long she will be able to stroll him outside. he won't even nap with her in my bed if she lays down with him. what can i have her do to get him to nap?

  • Gas she tried a carrier? If she's comfortable she can pop him in it and potter around the house while he naps. If that doesn't work you could try putting him in his crib and soothing him. It may take a while but DD will go down for my Mum like that.

  • I put a futon mattress on the floor of my dds room and would nurse her to sleep there and leave her to sleep.

Room is all childproofed, at about a year I gave up on even putting her in the crib and just leave her there to sleep in the evening (she wakes up angry when she hits the sides of the crib and she moves a lot). She's now pretty consistent about not going off the big bed head first so I'll probably just convert toa toddler bed at 18 months.

I prefer her to sleep in her own room even if it is on the floor, but you could drop your mattress to the ground for a bit.

She has back problems so I don't think it would be good for her : thanks for the suggestion anyway

We are in a tiny apartment so there isn't enough floor space in his room and in our bedroom we have a storage bed which is all wood with drawers so if we took mattress off it we don't have enough floor space for the mattress and the wood storage part :
