When did LO grow up?

I've been MIA for the past week, and am sure I missed a lot.  My father-in-law passed away unexpectedly last Wednesday, and it was just a horrible week.  He adored DS, and they had so much fun together.  We are really going to miss him.  Anyway I really don't want to talk about it because it just sucks, so I'm trying to talk about other things.

We were out of town for the funeral last weekend, and a lot of family came in to town.  Most of them had never met DS so he got passed around a lot, and therefore I didn't spend a whole lot of one on one time together.  Since we got home it seems like he has changed so much.  When he eats now he feels the need to pull up on his elbows and try to sit halfway up.  It's like he's trying to do his ab workout while eating.  He also is so busy looking around that he ends up spitting his bottle out.  I never thought I'd see the day when DS would be too busy to eat!!!  In the mornings he's spitting out his bottle, because he just wants his cereal and fruit.  On top of this he's sitting up on his own in the tub, and touching the mirror when he sees himself.  He also stands up by just holding my thumbs, and likes "dancing" while he's standing!!

It's just so crazy because he seems like he started all this in just a few days.  He is definitely not the cuddly little baby who used to just lay there staring at the ceiling fan.  I am loving all these new developments though.  He smiles so much, and seems so happy to be growing up!!  I am really enjoying spending time with him and seeing all this.  So what things are your LO's doing that make you go "Wait a minute, when did you get big enough to do this?"  They are all growing up so fast.  I'm just trying to take in every little moment!!

Re: When did LO grow up?

  • I think it was about 4 or 5 mornings ago, I had dd in bed in the morning and I just looked at my husband and said "she's a big baby now.  Just look at how she's acting/looking around"  That morning, she just presented differently and older and she has been a big baby since.  It's exciting and unbelievable.  I've seen other babies grow just fine, but when it's it's my own I just think "holy cow.  How are you the same baby?  You were so tiny and just sat in my arms."  I find it amazing that I actually gave birth to this growing child.  Like, she's big enough now that there's no way she'd be able to fit through all of that, but at one time she was so tiny that she literally passed right through me.
