I'm having my anatomy scan done next week and was curious if the ultrasound is done internally or if baby is big enough that they can finally do an external ultrasound. I've only had one at 12wks and that one was internal of course. Thanks ladies!
Out of curiosity, why was your 12 week one internal? That's the only ultrasound I've had, and you can clearly see the baby at 12 weeks externally with an abdominal ultrasound.
TTC 1: Off BCP late October 2011. BFP #1 Jan 2, 2012; EDD September 5, 2012; m/c Jan 12, 2012. BFP #2 June 14, 2012; EDD February 22, 2013.
My super all about me birth story:
Then: Fraternal twins born at 26 weeks in 1983. Me: 640 grams. Brother: 840 grams. Family kept watch in the NICU for 5 months before being allowed to go home. On oxygen for a year and a half after being released.
Now: Me: PhD student and married. Brother: Lawyer and married.
Dad's wedding speech: Thank you to all the family who stood watch and prayed for our children's survival. Well now the little scrawny chicken is married. Who would've thought? (Thanks dad for making me laugh and cry at the same time).

Well i went into my first appointment thinking I was 11weeks along so taking that initial thought into consideration its still small enough that its easier to see on the internal. but we found out i was a week ahead when OB looked at the baby.
So thats why i was unsure how long internals were done before switching over to external.
I haven't had mine yet, but last time, my a/s was both internal and external. It was mostly external until the end when they needed a couple more measurements that would be clearer if they got them internally.
I didn't have an n/t scan this time, but last time, the entire thing was done internally. My uterus also tips backwards, so perhaps that has something to do with not being able to get a good enough picture externally. Maybe you have the same thing.
Re: Anatomy scan question!
It's external.
