Runny nose and watery eyes with food allergy?

My 2 1/2 year old was diagnosed with MSPI while I was nursing her and I went on a total elimination diet.  I nursed her for 16 months and she still has not been able to eat dairy, soy, eggys, or nuts.  Per her allergist and GI doctor.  Yesterday our new nanny accidentally gave her mashed potatoes that had butter and milk in them.  By the time i got home she has developed a really really stuffy nose.  Today her nose is super runny (clear) and eyes are watery, and a slight cough.  I am thinking it is a reaction from the dairy but not sure if this is possible. Luckily we have an appointment at the allergist later this week, but I was wondering if any of you have experienced this?  I would love ot hear from you!  Thank you so much!

    DD1 is allergic to dairy and one of her symptoms was constant nasal congestion. DD2 was also a very congested newborn prior to me cutting dairy and soy (she's MSPI).
