My friends flew on American Airlines, which charged them $50 for a car seat and $50 for a stroller because they had no baby with them.
They showed the adoption paperwork they had with them to the woman at the counter and the manager and were still told that they would be charged anyway.
They are writing a letter and so am I. Please feel free to send one too, if you are so inclined.

Re: The airline that charges APs for bringing empty carseats
I was so mad reading that original post..stupid airlines!
I will say, I was impressed (for the first time in a long time) with an airline - Delta. I had booked a flight to MI for October thinking this adoption thing would take forever. Well, we matched very quickly and our baby is due any day so if this works out, I knew I might have to postpone my trip. I called Delta and they are willing to waive all rebooking fees so now I have that credit that I already paid to use on any flight for up to 1 year. I was really impressed..no fees whatsoever! I also remember someone posting about how Delta might allow discounts for people traveling to get their adopted child, so Delta may be the way to go for all of us!
