I'd say it's pretty important but that's just me because I work in healthcare. I've always heard that it's especially important for pregnant women. Our immune systems are a little less strong than the normal person's, so I've always known that this flu season it would be extremely important for me to get it. Do whatever you feel is comfortable for you though!

Yep, received mine today at my check up too. I had my first flu shot ever in March at my first appointment to confirm the pregnancy and even though they are good for a year I was advised to get this additional one since it had different strains in it for the coming season.
Yes get the flu shot, and try to do it before you deliver so your baby gets some of the immunity. I feel pretty strongly about it being a good idea (as do most doctors) but obviously the ultimate decision is with you.
FWIW, I have never had the flu and started getting the shots about 5 years ago to help with herd immunity.
My doctor gave me the flu shot at my appointment today also. I didn't realize I'd have to get it either. I've never gotten the flu shot before today. If she didn't strongly recommend it, I wouldn't have gotten it today. But I figure she knows what is better for my LO than I do at this point being a FTM.
My MWs highly recommend it. Very dangerous for an infant to get the flu so they recommend getting it while pregnant as your body passes those antibodies to the baby.

Just got mine at my OB appt last week - the flu vaccines seem to have been released early this year. I'm thrilled it was available while I'm still pregnant because it means the baby gets the vaccine too. I get the flu shot every year.
My OB also offered the pertussis booster at one of my appointments and it turns out I was due. Now just to get DH up-to-date on his vaccines before baby comes...
most OB's and pediatricians strongly recommend pregnant women getting the flu shot, specifically those born in the fall/winter during flu season, because it does protect your LO to some extent since they're unable to get the flu shot till they're 6 months or so.
Just to add something that may get me flamed but I don't care. At my child safety class, they had an MD come in and talk about a variety of topics. When the flu shot came up a couple people tried to fight her on whether it was important and she said:
"Listen, a year ago I wouldn't care what you did about the flu shot. But let this be one of the first times you need to realize it's not just about you anymore. It's also about your baby and your baby's safety."

I 100% agree with her.
