My friend has shingles, and we're supposed to see each other tomorrow night. Her dr. said it's okay for her to go out and do things since the sores are not exposed. I've had chicken pox, so I'm not worried about myself. But, I'm wondering if I could carry the virus home to LO even if I don't touch her.
WDYT? Am I worrying for nothing?
Re: should I be exposed to shingles?
This. I've had them and this is what the doc told me. Mine were on my neck for all to see. If she is on acyclovir (Zovirax) than that should help too. As others have stated though, it is quite painful and if it were me I would want to be home resting.
Thanks, everyone. After posting this I also remembered that when I was PG my OB told me not to be exposed to them.
I think I'm going to ask my friend to reschedule. Hopefully she'll understand.
You can't catch shingles..you can get chicken pox from the only the liquid/puss in blisters you get from shingles, not from coughing etc.
No worries about bringing it home!
She may not want to go out....shingles is very painful!!! I had it and it was a few weeks of horrible nerve pain. I caught it early and started anti viral meds. I didn't catch it from anyone it just comes out in your system.
