GTKY: traffic citations

In light of my wonderful speeding ticket this morning, what are your traffic citation histories like? Am I really a bad driver, I must know...

16: Failure to keep control of a vehicle (I flipped it)

16: Violation of some stupid under 18 rule of too many ppl in the vehicle (I had 3, you are only allowed one).

16 : Speeding (20 over)...Lost my licence:(((

20: Speeding (? don't remember)

22: Speeding (20 over)

26: speeding (20 over, that was today)

Re: GTKY: traffic citations

  • I have had one ticket. A cop pulled me over for rolling through a stop sign. I actually stopped, but according to him, not for long enough. He counted two seconds and it should of been three. He said "In Oklahoma, we call that a California roll". I didn't argue because we were on our way to the emergency room with DH who had broken his foot. A$$hole cop.

  • I have nothing on my record, but I only have had my license since this past December. I think it is funny that I was married, living on my own, and pregnant before I got my license. My husband has had a few tickets. Mostly for speeding, and one accident where we lost the car.

  • Mine were all for speeding. The last one I got out of somehow because I was on the way to work at a bar that the cop used to be a bouncer at. I was going over 20 over on that one! All the others I was never able to get out of. I got a ticket a few years ago because the meter expired but besides that nothing. Another one I got a diversion on a speeding ticket, I don't think they do that everywhere though. Pretty much I paid the city more and it didn't go on my record because they changed it to a non-moving violation.

  • I got a parking ticket when I was 16.  Other than that, I haven't ever been pulled over.

  • Before DD, I admit, I was awful.  I've been pulled over no less than 20 times.  All for speeding (on the highway, no residential areas).  I only got ticketed 3 times though.  Now I am much more cognizant of how dangerous it is.  But I've driven TN to PA/NY so many times, and it's a 14-20 hour trip, and you just want to get there before you're too tired to concentrate.

I'm from Kansas my mom would always say a California roll/stop. But for 2 secs? really? That is a stop. To me a California roll is when you don't actually stop all the way.

  • I think I've had three or four speeding tickets, but not 20 over, more like 10 over. One driving in the carpool lane, didn't realize it was for carpools and literally went in right behind the CHP, doh! And two red light camera violations for turning right on a red, you mean california rolls don't count? Plus an endless supply of parking tickets. If you're a bad driver, I am too

  • I've gotten a couple parking tickets, but I've never gotten an actual moving violation ticket.

    23: Speeding (10 over)

    25: Speeding (10 over)

  • I think I have 2 speeding tickets and 2 warnings for not stopping at stop signs and a warning for following too closely. I have been driving for 9 years. I don't drive too much, 3 min to work, and dh usually drives everywhere we go together. I try to be safe in the car since my dad was killed in a car accident
  • Pulled over once but did not get a ticket.

I'm your typical grandma driver. I am likely to get pulled over for going too slow than I am for speeding. My philosophy is "dont drive faster than your angel can fly." Yep, I'm that driver.

ETA: I did get numerous parking tickets at my college though. I would get lazy at the beginning of the school year and wouldn't go get my pass or I would park in teacher parking if I was gonna be late to class. lol.

  • I've only gotten 2. One was not stopping all the way on a right on red, the other was for speeding. I went to a driving class for the right on red to avoid points on my license.

  • Last time I had a citation was 13 years ago at 18. I was doing 59 and I didn't know it went to 40 from a 55. DH also got a ticket there a year prior. It was a few counties over and right at the beginning of our relationship. He didn't realize I was going on that road. Anytime we go that road to get to Gettysburg, we always see the cops waiting.

  • It's been about 7 years (knock wood). I'm a step 9 right now <: and have been for a bit!

I flipped my car when I was 16 (no cops on scene). Took a hairpin turn going 40 (it was like 15 speed limit. Got a $50 citation. A few weeks before had a $50 dollar citation for speeding in a group of three cars. I fought both and had them thrown out.

I have run a stop sign off a highway (normally you would think it was a yield but it was a stop) and cops sat there like a-holes. I also got a ticket for apparently missing my front plate. The cop was a ***. I didn't even know I lost my plate! Seriously how many times do I walk around my car to check that!

    I've had a few warnings.

A few years ago I got pulled over (I had one glass of wine and I was sh*tting myself). Apparently the cop mistook me for another car! He goes this is the white Acura TSX and I was like, "um no, it's an Infiniti sir" He looked at the car and apologized and let me go! Phew!! haha

  • One speeding ticket at 24.

A couple red light tickets and one speed camera.  But those don't count.  I think they should have to chase me and catch me for it to be legit.

  • I was pulled over twice, at sixteen, for speeding but did not get tickets. I have had parking tickets from college though.

Oh yeah, I was super pissed. I was told that the cops in town hated military for some reason. I'm pretty sure that's why it ended up in a ticket. Between that, the ER and two small children, it was a horrible night.

  • I have too many to remember.  lol.  I've had my licenses suspended a few times.  My last ticket was about 6 years ago.  I was a speed demon and never knew how to keep my mouth shut with the police.  I'm so glad I've learned to slow down and shut up with age.

  • I got one for parking overnight in a non-overnight parking lot (college parking lot), and one for speeding ($346 for going 72 in a 55 zone...damn RI!).

  • 16: Speeding (not my fault, my dad taught me to drive fast on that road!) Dad found out about that one and went to the courthouse with me (required in my county) and kept it from my Mom.

17: California stop at a stop sign...and I speeded a little so I would not be pulled over in front of my house since the stop sign was literally two houses down from my parents' house.  He let me go on the speeding.  To this day that is still the only time I have EVER seen a cop at that stop sign.  Mom found out about this one and kept it from Dad.

33: Speeding on the freeway.  I fought it because I did not think it was a fair ticket (weird spot where everyone speeds up because of a hill and no way was I going as fast as he said I was as I did not pass any cars that were supposedly going 10mph less than me).  Cop ended up going on vacation right before the trial date, so it was dismissed.

34: Stupid red light camera, California stop on a right turn.  I saw the left turn light turn green and went automatically before I realized it was not my light.  Oops!

I've been pulled over a few more times, but talked my way out of it (always have a good excuse!). Once I got let go because it had been less than a year since my last ticket and traffic school would not be an option.  Yay for nice cops!

    Ouch!

Note to self: No more speeding in RI.
