  I personally got one as a shower gift from a girl who said they are a must, but I never used it. I really think it's more about your comfort level with your LO being in the cart as to whether it's a necessity.

  I never used one. Most of our grocery stores locally now have sanitizing wipes near the carts to wipe them down...I just do that...easy enough!

  I use mine all the time and wash it after every shopping trip.  But I am a germaphobe.  So if you are not a germaphobe or not going to wash it often don't bother as it is more germy to have one and use it w/o washing it that just putting your kid in the cart.

  I have a Balboa Baby. We use it every time we go out. It's a personal preference but IMO its a must.

  It depends on how comfortable with germs you are. My kid puts everything in his mouth, so I don't really get worked up when he sneaks a chew on a sanitized cart. In my opinion, cart covers are a ridiculous way to make money off paranoid parents, since germs are everywhere and pretty much unavoidable.   I'm not a germaphobe, but found these really useful when DS was just starting to sit up, but still kind of small- it really helped keep him propped up in supermarket carts and restaurant high chairs, where he might have been sliding around otherwise.

  I bought mine at either TJ Maxx or Marshalls for less than $10- definitly don't need one of the fancy pricey ones from BRU.

  On the germ note- the chemicals in hand sanitizers aren't too great for you.  The only time I use them around DS is when he (or I) might have been touching something with fecal material (i.e. petting zoo, public bathroom)- the rest of the time I rely on soap and water and hope he's building up his immune system.

  We almost never used it. I wish we wouldn't have registered for it. They can't really use them until they can mostly sit up and by that point they're almost ready to sit in the cart on their own. It's one more thing to drag into the store. Unless you're a total germaphobe, just use the cart wipes and LO will be just fine.

  It depends on your personality I think. We have this one - it's a nice one. I used it some, will use it again, but don't consider it a must have.

  My daughter is 14 months, and we still use ours all the time.  When babies are old enough to sit in a cart by themselves (around 6 months), they are still so little.  I couldn't imagine putting her in a filthy cart- not to mention that at 6 months everything goes in their mouths if they are teething.  So, theres that.  Also, carts are metal and hard plastic, not exactly comfortable for LO. In my book, it's a MUST have!

  The first time I saw this was when I meet up with one of my friends and she had one that worked in high chairs and carts. She loved it because she felt it was more secure than the regular straps provided in high chairs. That would be a big plus for me, but if you don't eat out often then maybe it is a mute point.
