How Often Does Your Toddler Cry...

Just curious... is it an everyday thing?

Mine cries ALOT... everyday woould be an understatement. :( I feel like an awful mom by how much she cries.

Thanks for responding if you do.

Re: How Often Does Your Toddler Cry...

  • She does cry every day, but not all the time. She goes through periods where she wants me to hold her, so she'll cry until I pick her up. She'll also get fussy if she doesn't take a long enough nap or if we eat later than usual.

Is your LO getting enough sleep? That might contribute to fussiness.

  • A lot! He's always been grumpy. But I would say we have tears at least 4-5 times a day for 5-10 minutes at a time. He almost always wakes up crying too. He's been this way since birth though.

  • Thanks for responding. :)

You're right about the sleep. She has been refusing her naps and won't go to bed unless she knows I went to bed ever since We brought our newborn home. So her tantrums and crying have been off the charts lately.

Before she used to just cry when she woke and just whine the rest of the day... Now it seems as if she is constantly crying. :(

    Thanks again for responding!

  • There are definitely multiple things per day that cause him to cry, although usually briefly.  It's normally some type of frustration for him.

  • Just like Hen, my kid is a cryer. She whines and cries all day. She's been like this since birth too.
  • I wouldn't say cry but more of a whine when he wants something he cannot do. So I would say he does not cry often.

Yup. My DD cries a lot and its usually because she is mad that she cant do what she wants. I just try my best to ignore it but its hard. Somedays i feel like the worst mom too because she just wont stop. The other day we actually had to leave Gymboree 10 min after we got there and before class even started. I was so frustrated cuz i just didnt know what to do except let her cry. I hope this phase passes soon.

  • Mine cries when she needs a diaper change...is hungry...or is sleepy. And for the most part I can determine which cry is which. I don't let her cry unless she's really being a brat.
  • Big Whiney, I WANT IT NOW, HOLD ME LIFE IS HARD CROCODILE TEARS? About 3xs an hour. ;)

All out crying? Not very often at all. Usually just at night when she's settling herself for bed or if she's hungry and lunch is running late.

She's never really been much of a crier though. Luck mainly I guess.

  • Um, maybe a good hour of the hours he is awake (not all at once, just if you added it up.)  He cries a lot.  He gets angry a lot because we say no often. :)  He is also a complete clutz, so he gets a new owie at least once or twice a day, which results in tears and needing it kissed.  He has many tantrums and is in that stage where he gets frustrated easily because he knows exactly what he wants, but is unable to verbalize it.  I work too, so God knows how much he cries at daycare!  Don't worry.  I teach first grade and they STILL cry a lot! :)

I agree with this.  Tears only if she really hurts herself.

This is my DD. Most of the time she's happy, but she gets easily frustrated and wants everything done her way.
