cio standing

How is my lo supposed to cio when he keeps standing up? Do i go in early and lay him back down?

Re: cio standing

  • When my LO started standing he had some sleep regression and I let him figure it out on his own. He caught on quick and laid himself down and went to sleep.

  • Mine does the same thing, we tried this method for about 2 nights and I gave up.  We are going to try again after vacation.  Its torture, I hate it, but it seems like the only thing that works.  The few nights we tried, I picked her up and tried laying her back down, but she fought me and stood back up.  I suppose eventually they wear themselves out sit down and fall asleep....ughhh I hate it.  But we need her to sleep in own bed.  Im a prisoner to her sleeping arrangements because this even happens for naps.
  • Can he sit back down on his own?  If not, I'd practice with him a bit.  We did that when our son started standing in the crib.  I'd put interesting things on the mattress, even some puffs, to entice him to reach down to grab it.  One day we did it several times.  He would let go of the rail and plop down.  I'd even pry his fingers off and let him plop down.  Once he realized that he was going to be ok plopping down, he started doing it on his own.  We always left him to figure it out after we'd put him down for a nap or for bed, but helped him along the way while he was awake to practice.  It only took a day or two.

This. We're still going through the regression stage but it's slowly getting easier. She did the same thing when she learned how to roll over and sit up. All she wanted to do was practice these new skills in the middle of the night. But it's just a phase and does pass eventually.

This. For a couple of nights, we would go in and lay her back down but it would just make her madder. It just took two nights of CIO for about 5-10 minutes each night for her to figure it out.
