Food Allergy

Would these be red flags for you?

DD had a milk protein allergy that she outgrew at 2 1/2. Lately she has been having some serious constipation issues and crying that her tummy hurts. Then the past few days her eczema has kicked back into high gear. Unfrortunately she is now old enough to scratch it. :-( Would these be warning signs to you that she could be developing another FA? Maybe I"m just paranoid about it, but eczema was one of her biggest signs/symptoms the first time around. I don't want her to have to go through the misery of a missed FA again like she did as an infant. Would you call and set up an appt, or just ride it out for a while and see if things improve? I still have some of the ointments left that the allergist prescribed so I have been putting those on the eczema spots again to try to get it back under control.

Re: Would these be red flags for you?

  • Will had so many false negatives on his allergy tests that I would probably do some elimination tests at home myself before calling the allergist to see if I noticed any patterns. Hope you're able to figure out the trigger!

  • I'd eliminate dairy for a month and see if her symptoms clear up.

    • Yes, I would eliminate grains and corn along with the dairy. See if they clear up. then add one grain in at a time- rice, wait for a reaction, if nothing, then add the next 24 hours later. If a reaction wait three days before adding the next food.
    • Top 5 allergens are: gluten, dairy, corn, soy and eggs.
