Blanket sucker

My LO is almost 3 months old and started sucking on blankets. The other night I even put a bib on her to feed her a bottle and in the time between i put it on her and made the bottle, she had soothed herself to sleep by sucking on the bib. Then when I got her up from her nap this afternoon she was doing it to her blanket. I know it's probably nothing to freak about but makes me nervous her pulling a blanket up by her face and putting in her mouth. we use the "aden + anais" blankets which are breathable, but still?! I know people make "taggie" blankets for kids that do this, but I'm nervous about her chocking on the tags. I know i'm overreacting but, thoughts?! Should I try breaking her of this new habit?

Re: Blanket sucker

  • My little one is doing it too. I wouldn't worry about it as long as you are there watching her. As long as the babies are happy, leave them be. But as soon as my LO is alone or sleeping for the night the blankets and snuggies go with me leaving him only with the cuff of his sleeper.

  • I couldn't break my son of this habit if I tried. He sucks on bibs, blankets, burp cloths, his clothes, washcloths...I think it's just him starting to explore the world. I make sure nothing is around his face when he sleeps...he is still swaddled arms out most of the time...and don't worry about it too much.

  • Mine does this. I love it! It's such good play skills and soothie. She only does it to play or in her car seat. She thinks it's fun. At bedtime she uses her pacifier. Plus she won't keep,a blanket on until she zonked out.

Like pp said just move it away when she's asleep. You could use a paci too if she takes one.
