What are you doing flavorwise? Banana or carrot? White or yellow? Frosting...something not so sugary? Decorations? Anyone else doing an elmo/sesame theme? TIA
I'm probably doing a white cake with buttercream frosting. I am doing a ladybug theme, so I'm telling my cake lady to surprise me with something similar to the big cake.
Chocolate cake with a vegan buttercream icing in a creamy color hopefully. Our theme is owls and paisley. I want to have a fondant tree with different color leaves on it.
I'm not sure about the flavor yet either but banana is a good one now that you mentioned it! I'm just not doing chocolate for sure just because ped said it can be hard on a babies stomach and I don't want to increase the risk of a tummy ache for the day.

If you're worried about frosting being overly sweet you could make a mascarpone frosting... if you're alright with giving baby soft cheeses... ped said it was alright for my DD though

I'm just making a small cake with the same batter as the cake for everyone else (I pinned an article about using a soup can to cook the cake in. Because I like shorter, fatter cakes instead of tall ones, I might use a tomato can instead). So the smash cake will be cookies and cream with chocolate frosting.
I'm doing white cake and a whipped icing. I don't expect DS to actually eat any of it, since he is so not interested in anything not pureed. He'll probably just play with it.
I'm going to decorate it like a dinosaur.

I'm going to be doing a bunch of rainbow cupcakes, rather than a big cake and a smash cake. I found this recipe for a "healthier" white cake that I'm going to try out this week to see how it turns out. If it works, great, otherwise I'll just do a traditional white cake recipe. And I'm going to do buttercream frosting, I think.
The theme is pumpkins so I'm using two mini bundt pans to make a small pumpkin shaped cake with pale orange frosting. The cake will be white and the frosting my mom's butter recipe with 1/2 the powdered sugar.

Re: Smash cake...
No sugar hold backs over here!

DD will have a yellow cake cupcake with pink buttercream for herself.
The cake for the adults will be yellow cake, chocolate icing and a patch of green "grass" icing for a dinosaur to roam.
