Re: Tips and Tricks Tuesday

  • I mentioned this in chat last night... But I will pass it on here.

I made my own cookbook. I bought a big notebook binder, clear page protectors, dividers, and use Microsoft word. This way you can design it, make it your own, use the dividers to make categories (breakfast, apps, side dishes, main course, etc.). So this way every entry is a winner and totally up to you. The best part is you don't have to take your laptop out in the kitchen and risk spilling anything on it. Thats where the protectors come into play and they keep your own cook book like new and last.

  • This tip comes with a lesson learned - don't let DH trim his hair and wash it down the sink for a year.  It will completely and totally clog up the sink, and be absolutely disgusting to try and get undone.

That being said - the vinegar/baking soda "volcano" can be done in the sink.  Dump a 1/2 box of baking soda down the sink, chase with 1 C vinegar, and stuff the drain with a washcloth.  Let sit for 30 minutes, then dump hot hot hot water down the sink (we filled our tea kettle, brought to a boil, and dumped it all).

We had to do a little bit of soda and vinegar, let sit, have DH pull out the clog as best he could, then do soda, vinegar, and hot water.
