The Flu...

I got the flu shot at my last appointment which was last week.  My husband was up last night with diarrhea (Sorry TMI) and had more episodes throughout the day.  He is feeling really weak and has a slight fever.  I'm hoping and praying he doesn't have the flu!  I read that the flu shot doesn't take effect until 2 weeks after getting the shot.  Right now we are just going to see how he feels tomorrow before calling the doctor.  Anyone been exposed to the flu/or have the flu while pregnant?  I'm freaking out as this is my first pregnancy.

    My first pregnancy, so I don't have that advice. Drink OJ, wash you hands a lot, sleep in another room from him, Lysol anything he touched. I got a nasty flu last winter and my husband slept in his office/man room and did not get it. Air out airyhouse, windows and doors open to let in fresh air.

    The diarrhea thing is throwing me.  That could be food poisoning or the stomach flu, but in my totally untrained non medical professional opinion, it isn't the same flu as the kind you get the flu shot for which is more like a REALLY bad cold (with body aches, chills, fever, fatigue, etc.).

    Still, don't mess around.  Wash your hands, wipe down surfaces, make sure your toothbrushes don't touch, etc.

    This. Influenza is not the same as a stomach virus. Although, I wouldn't want to mess around with that either! Hope he feels better soon!

    The previous posters are correct that sounds like maybe food poisoning or a stomach virus. But please be careful and lysol/bleach everything he has touched.  I had the flu when I was pregnant with my son, and I honestly felt like I might die. It started off as a bad cold and then progressively got worse. I went to urgent care, and had nose swab and it was positive for the flu. The terrible part of being pregnant with the flu is you can not take anything but Extra Strength Tylenol and some antibiotics. I ended up with the flu and bronchitis, and it took me over a month to really get better and I had a cough for longer. I hope your DH gets better soon, and if you start feeling bad be sure to drink lots of fluids and call your OB if it lasts longer than a few days.

    I just went through about the same thing. My husband has had something for the last 7 days. He even had a fever for 5 days up to 102.7. I slept in our spare room the whole time and I talked to the OB nurses twice just to settle my worry. They just told me both times not to worry and to call back if I got a fever above 100.4. Call your OB office if you are worried it helped calm my nerves.

    Thanks ladies for all your input.  After reading what you all had to say and doing some research I am thinking it is a stomach virus too.  I have been using Lysol on every handle in our home!  I'm hoping he feels better tomorrow, but if not I'll make him a doctor's appointment!
