Where are you getting lo's winter jacket?

I know this is frivolous and unnecessary but I want a pretty winter jacket for lo.  I love pea coats or a flared out coat and I know it is so not needed this year because she will be bundled up just from the car to the house but I NEED one.

Suggestions?

  • I didnt look at the girl side, but Baby Gap had boy pea coats so they may have girl ones too!

  • I am very stressed out about the winter apparel situation. Do I need a winter coat and a snow suit? I can't imagine not having a winter coat around here even if it is just to go in the car. It takes a million years for the car to warm up when it is 30 degrees outside.

I'm stressed too. I have a few hoodies for him, but I feel like he needs more. But I want him to be able to go in his carseat okay too. Then with babywearing, when I go to the grocery store, how am I gonna do that? My best idea is that after I park I get into the back seat of the car, take off my coat, put on the ergo, then get him out of his carseat and put him in it, then put my coat back on, on top of us. Do I keep his coat on? Take it off? idk, it gets too cold to do it outside the car or when there is a foot of snow out.

  • We got lucky, at my work's baby shower I was given a coat from Baby Gap and a snowsuit/bundle thingy.

When picking one out make sure it is east to eat on/off, a lot of those more fitted jackets look like a PITA to get on.  The Baby Gap one we got looks really warm and easy to get on/off and looks like this https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=8772&vid=1&pid=914962&scid=914962002, only with a hood.

If you live in a less-cold place, I think this is adorable  https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=8772&vid=1&pid=914957&scid=914957002

I wouldn't bother with a winter coat.  Just get a cover for the car seat.  Those keep them super warm and all they will need is a warm sleeper on inside that.  A baby should not wear a winter coat in a car seat.  I do have a snow suit for my little one so hopefully we can take walks this winter.

Make sure you get a seat cover that goes on like a shower cap rather than the JJ cole one which goes behind the babies back.

I would put the ergo on before you leave under your coat.  Then slip the baby in in the backseat you can and try to put the coat over both of you.  I always put a heavy fleece blanket over DD1 last year also.

  • I was thinking about doing a bundler like this https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=73891&vid=1&pid=476627&scid=476627002

    But I guess I don't know now.

Unfortuanally our LO's aren't supposed to have winter coats on in the carseat so this is my plan on babywearing.

Go in backseat, put on ergo, put baby in ergo in a hoodie type thing, put my winter coat on, wrap it around LO as much as possible, get inside asap.

  • There are baby wearing coats - I was thinking about getting one off etsy... here's the link for all of them.  I have not settled on anything.
