Those that cloth diaper

DH and I are considering trying cloth diapering. I have wanted to but he has been hesitant because we live in an apartment without a washer dryer. I have been doing my research and it seems it can be doable with hand washing and this portable and inexpensive hand pump washing machine. I was told that prefolds and flats are the best and most forgiving for my situation but what are the cons of these? Are they as absorbent? are there more leaks? I figured there has to be cons since most people seem to use pockets.

I think people like prefolds less because you have to fold them unlike how the name suggests and secure them. And then cover them.

I use them and LOVE them. And they line dry fantastically.

I am going to order some and give it a try. What covers do you use? I saw a starter pack on cotton babies but some said the covers they supplied leak. They provide the bummies super whisper wrap.

I use pockets and Flips. Flips are like the lazy man's prefolds. I really like my Flips, we use them at night because we can adjust absorbancy easier.

We use a mixture of pockets, AIOs, and prefolds. DH prefers the prefolds, because we used them during the newborn stage and he is used to them. Our favorite covers are the Thirsties duos. We are using size 2 now. Both sizes worked well on DS. We have just started using wool covers at night this week with fitted diapers.

We have pockets, prefolds, and Flips. I actually tend to go for a prefold and snappi during the daytime before anything else. The only thing about prefolds is I don't think I'd trust them for overnight. We stuff pockets with a microfiber and hemp insert. But then again, I've never tried them for overnight. I just don't think they'd be absorbent enough. Oh, and I use Flip covers with the prefolds, with a fleece liner.
