Dads & Dads-to-be

Time to say hello

Been lurking/posting on here for a little while, but I figured I should actually introduce myself.

My wife and I started trying around the end of winter figuring it would take awhile for anything to happen.  Got a positive right away, but unfortunately had a miscarriage that spring.

We just started trying again and once again got a positive on the first cycle.  She's only 5.5 weeks at this point, but we're really hoping this one sticks.  Trying to stay positive, but it can be difficult given the past.  Right now I view my job as helping her stay relaxed and not get really stressed about all the 'what ifs.'  Anyone have any tips?

Re: Time to say hello

  • Just try to relax and not get too anxious, one way or the other.  We lost our first as well, so when we got pregnant again we just played it close to the chest. We waited to go into the dr. until week 12, and we did not tell family or friends until we were out of the second trimester.

We prayed a lot too during those first ten weeks....

  • We lost our first as well.  I'll agree, trying to stay positive can be a trick, but just know that one loss does not mean the next will be lost too.  I have a nearly 21 month old holy terror (tonight at least on the terror part) that is evidence of that.  Best I can tell you is just keep trying to stay as positive as possible.  We kept things very close to the chest the 2nd time around until we at least saw the 1st ultrasound.  Hopefully you'll have an ultrasound around 8 weeks, once I saw the ultrasound and saw a baby in the sac, versus an empty one like last time, it took a LOAD of stress and worry off.
