How are you helping baby w/teething?

LO has been a little cranky pants.  It's clear that his gums are bothering him, but we don't really medicate in our family (I do give my oldest child medication if he needs it.  I'm just not quick to give meds).  I bought the Hylands Tablets but then read on here that we probably shouldn't use them.  I am not necessarily opposed to Tylenol but would like to avoid meds for as long as possible.

What say ye on the teething pain relief?

  • We use the baby Orajel teething tablets. We rub 2-3 (depending on how bad he seems to be hurting) directly on his gums, that's what our pedi recommended. They seem to help him and he actually gets really excited to take them, I think he likes the chalky feeling in his mouth. But my pedi also said not to be afraid of baby Tyelonel. We use it occasionally when he is really in pain and can't sleep because of it.

Haha, oh dear!  I just put a washcloth in the freezer so hopefully that works.  Thanks!

I was unaware that they had tablets as well.  Thank you.

Yes, it was the belladonna (which I've never heard of).  Thank you so much for the clarification.  And teeheehee at the stripper rabbit.

  • We have a few of the cold teethers (ones filled with water and you can put in freezer), and he really likes them. They melt fast and he gets super mad, but they do offer immediate relief! Just not long lasting.. :-

  • We have the Camilia drops and they seem to work (but we have to give 2 doses 15 minutes apart)

We also have an amber necklace (which seems to cut down on drool, but I don't know how well it's working for pain relief)

And the vibrating teether!  J loves it!!
