I tried checking it earlier just out of curiosity. I checked it all the time when we were TTC, so I was curious as to how it would compare in terms of texture.
I can't find it.
Seriously. I squatted, and reached as far as I humanly could...and I couldn't find it. I strained and checked all around thinking maybe it was just really posterior or something, and I couldn't find ANYTHING that felt even remotely like a cervix.
So now I'm really dreading the cervical check tomorrow. If I can't find it with my super long fingers, I feel like my MW is going to have to stick her arm up there to find it and that's going to hurt like heck. I also feel like a high cervix isn't really desirable in terms of making progress...don't you want low and soft?
If you've had a cervical check with a really high cervix, did you find it to be more painful than when your cervix was low?
Re: Where'd my cervix go?
You do want soft and anterior and you progress... just means you're getting closer. I wouldn't say that an internal check would be more painful with a posterior cervix..but if your MW is going to try and bring it forward a little, it can be. When your cervix is closed up, that's when it can be more uncomfortable - especially if they are trying to do a sweep.
ETA: ...forgot to add that the more posterior your cervix is the higher up it is - so it would be hard to "find"
BV, I feel for you. Last week after my first cervical check, I definitely posted about my MIA cervix.
I have nothing to compare it to, since I did not have any other cervical checks recently. But yeah, it was very uncomfortable with a super posterior cervix. My MW told me the baby was really low so she was trying her hardest to reach around his head to my cervix, but still couldn't really reach it. After two tries with most of her arm up there, we quit. Pretty sure she would have tried again, but it was really uncomfortable so I vetoed that.
I researched posterior cervix for fun and posted here, and some people said they had a posterior cervix until in labor... But my MW didn't seem thrilled about it and I guess it makes it a lot more difficult/impossible to check for dilation and whatnot if she can't even reach it.
Um, yeah, sorry for writing this whole book. I have an appointment on Wednesday where they'll try to find it again and I'm super anxious and that makes me all rambly.
Haha this is such a perfect description of me...we can be rambly and have weird cervixes together. Lol!
Awesome plan.
