Anyone have this teething symptom?

When LO was younger, she had issues with red swelling of her lower eyelid. She hasn't a long time, but this week it returned. And I'm pretty sure that she's starting to cut her 2 yr molars. So now I'm wondering if the eye redness is a teething thing for her. Anyone else experience this?

Re: Anyone have this teething symptom?

  • I remember talking to my dentist about how our sinuses sit right on top of our teeth (I had aches in my gums from my allergies, because my sinuses were so swollen), and then also had a similar conversation with our pedi about how babies get stuffy and boogery when they're teething because our sinuses and gums are right on top of each other, and changes to one affect the other.  Same with earaches.  That being the case, it makes sense to have some puffiness and redness around her eyes when she's getting molars, right?  If her sinuses are all jacked up from those big teeth shifting around in her gums, it makes sense for that to show up in her eye a little bit.  I haven't noticed DD's eyes being red or puffy, but her sinuses bother her when she's cutting teeth for sure.

  • I took my son to the doctor for redness under his eye and was told it was eczema.  His bottom eyelid was red and even slightly raised, Since it was on his eye, they didn't want to give him a steroid cream so we just used the aveeno eczema therapy cream as close as we could get it.  His eczema tends to come back when the weather changes, so maybe it could be that?

Nope, not eczema. Both DH (pedi/allergist/immunologist) and LO's pedi agree that it's overactive sebaceous glands. I'm just trying to figure out if it's tied in with teething.
