DIY Taco seasoning

Has anyone made it?  I found this recipe https://allrecipes.com/Recipe-Tools/Print/Recipe.aspx?RecipeID=46653&origin=detail&&Servings=10 that seems to be the equivalent of one packet.

I think overall, it'll be more cost-effective to do it this way for J's party than to buy 15-20 packets @ $1 each.

If you made it, was it good?  I've only ever used the packets.

Re: DIY Taco seasoning

  • I make all of my own seasonings because it saves a lot of money. We have a giant eagle Market District by us and they sell bulk herbs/spices for really, really cheap, if we didn't have GE then I'm not sure how cost effective it would be.
I use this recipe and adjust it to my own taste, I have my actual ratios written down somewhere but now I just eyeball it all.

Ok, how does the market district differ from a giant eagle?  We have a GE near where the party is, I could stop there easily.

  • You might try the seasoning isle at the grocery store or at a ware house club. We have a large container of McCormick taco seasoning that I got at BJ's.

  • Oh, I didn't even think of Sams having a bulk container!  I think we'll do that, we're going to Sams anyway later this week.

Market district is amazing! We have the only one in Ohio right now. It just sells rly fresh foods, a lot more bulk items, wine nights, little restaurants in it, they even have celebrity chefs come do cooking demos...it's pretty awesome. I can find ingredients there that I can't find anywhere else. The bulk spices there are like a small bag for under 3 bucks and are easily enough to fill two or three of those big McCormick bottles

Idk where u live but I know they have others outside of Ohio. It's like giant eagle meets whole foods on steroids :
