Baby Names

I need your opinions to settle a ridiculous dispute.

Is Aurora too close to Aria for them to be a sib set? I say yes, co-worker (who is already deciding my future baby's names??? WTH) says no.

Honestly, this is the most ridiculous thing. Why on Earth she thinks she needs to name a child that I won't even think of having for another three years is beyond me.

  • You're right, that it ridiculous. Aria and Aurora and both gorgeous but they are also very similar. Guess she better keep working on her name list for your baby ??

  • They are pretty close bc of the Ar sound, the argument could even be made that Aria almost sounds like a NN for Aurora.

  • It's a tongue twister to say together!

  • First off, I think they're too close.

Secondly, and no offense at all, but why don't you just tell her to shut up about it?  If you're not even pregnant, and not even contemplating baby names, why is SHE even thinking of it?  And even if you were, why would her opinion matter to the extent that you take it into consideration?  It'd be your baby that YOU would get to name.

  • They are both pretty but to close in style and sound for my taste.

I have told her to shut up and that I could care less on several occasions. I still find post-its on my desk, and emails in my in-box. It's ridiculous, and I haven't even been nice about it.

She's a bit OCD about things, and thinks we're bff's. That's the only reason I can come up with for her preoccupation with my hypothetica children's names.

No, her opinion doesn't matter. But it's eating away at me because she's been on it for so long. I needed to know that someone else agreed with me, and I was hoping to get some new arguments for as to why it's a no-go.

FTR, *IF* we have a second child, we aren't even sharing the name until said child is born.

ETA: She thinks I should already be TTC again. I think she thinks that talks of baby names will give me the baby itch again. Obviously, she's never had children... especially an on-the-go 6 month old.

Thanks everyone for confirming this for me! :)

  • Yep, their too close.

She really has no say in what you name any of your kids. I maybe wouldn't tell her to back off, just mess with her... If we have another girl I Want to name her Brangelina after Brad and Angelina of course! Lol, could be fun

I love both, but I am not a fan of naming kids something so close..even the same beginning letter bothers me though. I know a girl who has a daughter named Kinslee and is naming her second daughter Kindell. Ugh.

  • Yeah, no. Aria and Aurora would be a dumb sibset. You can tell her I said so.

  • I wouldn't worry too much about it.  I'm sure your coworker has already given the name to the little doll family she keeps at home that is supposed to represent your family.

  • I think they're both beautiful names, but agree that they might be too close to be a sib set.

Tell your coworker she can name her daughter Aurora. What? She's not pregnant or trying to have a baby right now? Well, tell her the next daughter she has she should DEFINITELY name Aurora.
