~*MSPI Moms Weekly Check-In*~
Welcome! This is a check-in for moms who are/were on a dairy free and/or soy free diet due to their LO?s intolerance. The check-ins will be posted every Monday morning on the Breastfeeding board and XP?d to the Food Allergy board. I will RP a link to the check-in on the Breastfeeding board on Monday evenings for the nighttime posters, if the check-in isn't on the first page of posts. If you'd like to join the group, just post an intro here and dive in!
QOTW: Does your LO have any other medical conditions? Eczema, reflux, etc?

MSPI Moms Check-In Blog
Hey--I'm new here.
An intro: I'm a 28 (soon to be 29)-year old mom of 2 boys, both of which are MSPI babies. DS1 was diagnosed at 5w5d after having bloody stools and under the ill advice of his pediatrician, I quit BFing immediately and switched to Nutramigen; I did not know that I could have just cut the offending foods from my diet and continued to breastfeed.
We have DS2's 1-month appointment this week, so I'm sure the official MSPI diagnosis is coming then (though I now know what to look for, having been through it with DS1). I am bound and determined to continue BFing this time (despite the many problems I'm currently having with BFing--recurrent plugged ducts, bad latch, possible thrush...).
I am so happy, though, to have found this support group!
DS2 doesn't have any other medical conditions (that we know of--we'll have to have a discussion with his pediatrician later this week).
DS2 August 2012
Other than the MSPI DD is really healthy. She had acne pretty bad but it cleared up. She also had cradle cap at first but that seems to have cleared as well. She spits up a lot but is a happy spitter, like DS was, so we are not on any meds.
My pedi suggested trying soy before her 4 month check up to see if she can handle it. Has anyone challenged before? When would I expect to see a reaction?
Also having problems with weight gain.
Sorry, I haven't been on in a few weeks. Life has been hectic.
QOTW: DD has reflux. She's on Zantac and Prevacid. She has good days and bad days.
Even though I have been dairy, soy, wheat and nut free for almost 2 months, DD still has mucus in her poop. I figured out that corn and caffeine bother her. I don't eat anything spicy or acidic. The only meats I eat are chicken and turkey. I am a barely eating anything beyond a total elimination diet, and if I stray at all, DD is miserable. I do not eat processed food, so I know there is no hidden dairy or soy in my diet. I am feeling pretty discouraged at this point.
Hi this is my first check in. DS is MSPI and almost 3. I EBF him for 18mos. I am expecting in Dec baby #2 and anticipating her being MSPI as well so I thought I would join in on the check-ins as a refresher.
DS has eczema too.

Hello, I am new here-can I join you ladies?
DS has had reflux since 3 weeks. It is controlled with Zantac, which he has been on since he is a month old. I do notice it gets worse if I have even the smallest amount of dairy! So I will continue to be dairy free until the Ped gives us the go ahead to see how he does with adding it back in.
Hey-- another newbie here.
Intro: DS broke out in a pretty nasty rash at about 6 or weeks so his pedi asked me to cut dairy from my diet at that time. A week later the rash spread and she asked me to cut out all hidden dairy as well. He was "diagnosed" at about 10 weeks after having blood appear in his stool.
DS also has reflux, delayed gastric emptying (DGE), and eczema
After 4 years, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs our surprise miracle is here!

DS doesn't have any other diagnosed conditions. He is gaining fine and generally happy, though he's a terrible sleeper. We are seeing a GE soon because he had blood in his stools again on Monday. :[ I am disappointed because I've been working so hard at my diet, and I thought I'd finally figured things out when I eliminated peanuts. But I am hopeful we will get some answers from the GE.
Has anyone's LO had a bad reaction to probiotics? I've given him BioGaia a couple of times, one of those times being this Saturday. He was super gassy Sunday and then had the blood Monday. I'm not sure what in my diet it could have been, I didn't really eat anything out of the ordinary.
