I meant to post this after Liv had her 15 month check but that day, we saw a different Pediatrician because ours is on sabbatical (probably in her 50s, same age as our regular Pedi) and told us to put butter on her rice. Liv continues to be in the 75-90% for height and still 10% for weight and HC. So "she's very tall and very skinny," she says. Along with the butter and rice suggestion, she mentioned she gets the whole fat on everything which we are doing but I mean...butter on her rice? What do you all think? Not too concerned but since I didn't ask further, now I'm left wondering about this.

That's better than the WIC nurse telling me to use half and half instead of milk when preparing M's meals... she got the smile-and-nod and I have not done that! I actually just bought real butter for M (since I get the cheaper spreads for DH and I) so that I can add it to her food occasionally.
Coconut oil is a good healthy fat. Both Maya and I like it spread on toast (just like you would butter), either plain or with applesauce or another pureed fruit. I use coconut oil on her diaper rash too, and when she smells it during a change she'll say, "MMMmmmm"!
Thanks ladies. I actually did jump on it that day and started to put a little bit in her rice. Surprise surprise she seemed to like it. I was just wondering if the advice was somewhat old school but I guess the old school thought really is that butter is soooo bad for you.
