I
was diagnosed with Cholestasis at 35 weeks at which point I was told my
labor would be induced no later than 38 weeks because of fetal distress
and the risk for stillbirth. I planned to stop work at 39 weeks prior
to knowing about the Cholestasis so it put a huge shift in my plans. I
went on maternity leave Labor day weekend, glad to still have about 2
weeks to get everything ready for her arrival. On Tuesday morning,
I went to get an NST at my OBGYN's office. Before my appointment, I
lost my mucus plug and was feeling crampy but didn't think much of it
because I had a series of symptoms in the previous weeks like spotting,
etc. So I thought labor would not happen soon. Things
did not go smoothly at the NST appointment. I was monitored for over an
hour and the fetal activity was not looking good. My doctor asked me to
go to L&D to continue being monitored. I mentioned losing my mucus
plug and cramping to her but she dismissed it, asked me to eat lunch and
go to L&D right away. I did just that. When
I got to L&D, I was leaking fluid and my cramping was getting more
consistent. They checked me and confirmed my water had broken but I was
not even 1 inch dilated. My contractions were 2 minutes apart by about 3pm.
As the hours passed, the doctors were not happy with fetal heart rate
and activity. They told me that I was only in the early part of labor
but they would make labor progress so I can have the baby soon. Around 8pm,
my contractions were strong and I was just about to ask for an
epidural. I felt like I was going to pass out from the pain and all of a
sudden, a team of about 6 doctors and nurses rushed in my room to tell
me they had to do an emergency c section due to fetal intolerance to
labor. My baby's heart rate was declining fast due to the intensity and
frequency of my contractions. I was crying hysterically because of the
pain and being frightened. Everything happened so suddenly and I was
thinking the worst. They wheeled me into the
OR and my baby was born at 8:27pm on Tuesday, September 4th. She weighed
5lbs, 7oz and was 18.75in in length. She's perfect! I'm so in love
with my daughter and have no regrets how much I went through to have
her. Thank you September 12 bumpies for amazing insight and guidance throughout my pregnancy.

Congrats!! She is beautiful! I have Cholestasis too so I am being induced at 37 weeks, which is on Saturday. I'm scared but I trust my doctors know exactly what they are doing and they have been monitoring her like crazy. I just can't wait to meet my sweet little girl!
