Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

For those with two!

So SURPRISE to me! just got a BFP! it took over a year with DD 1 so when we decided to start trying earlier this month we figured at least 5-6 months...apparently i was wrong! 1st times a charm with this one! So freaking out a little bit because was sooo not prepared for this! I had Hyperemesis with the first and was in and out of the hospital the entire pregnancy. My husband has a month long business trip in October and i'm dreading being alone with DD in fear of being that sick again! Did anyone have Hyperems with the 1st and not with the second?!

Re: For those with two!

  • I didnt have hypermesis (diagnosed) but I was extremely sick for twenty weeks laying on the bathroom floor...never quite had to go to the hospital, but barely.  The second time it let up at 16 weeks :)  I wouldn't worry quite yet, but maybe just set up some help for yourself for October.  No use worrying over things that aren't happening yet.

My Mom got sick when she had girls (my sister and I) and I have two girls.  I wonder if I ever have a boy if I will get sick or not.

    Congratulations!

  • Congrats. With Timmy we tried for a year before getting pregnant, with Nick we never tried, he was our surprise baby. Timmy had just turned 1 when i got pregnant with Nick.

With Timmy I had Pre E with Nick I had nothing except morning sickness for the entire 9 months to make up for not having it at all with Tim.

  • I had very bad HG with my first.  With my second it was much more manageable.  With my first I threw up multiple times a day, even with medication until 14 weeks, and then once a day until 20 weeks.

With my second I threw up only once a day until 23 weeks.

  • First off congrats!  I had VERY bad hyperemesis with my first three pregnancies (in and out of the hospital, had to be on a pump, similar to an insulin pump, for the fist 16-20 weeks to keep the meds in my system 24/7 just to function), and did not have it at all (just slight morning sickness) with my last two.  I think it varies from person to person.  I always throw it out that going to a chiropractor actually helped me A LOT, most people aren't into alternative routes, but I would swear by it since from what I can tell that was the only change between the pregnancies where it was horrible, to the ones I barely had morning sickness.
