I'll try to keep this as short as possible! lol =]
At 4am on August 23rd (8 days before our due date) I woke up to go to the bathroom and felt like I was still peeing after I was done peeing. I did the whole "lay down for 30 minutes and stand up and see if you are still leaking" thing twice and when I kept leaking I called the doctor on call who told me to come in to check to see if it was my water leaking or not. I took a shower, finished packing my bag and had my husband put in the car seat...I know i know, we lag lol.
We got to the hospital around 5:45am and the nurse took one look and said "i don't even need to test you, your waters are definitely leaking and you're not leaving here without a baby!" Since I wasn't having contractions yet they decided to start me on pitocin after the IV fluids and penicillin (was GBS positive). They started me on it around 9am. Around 12pm I started to feel a little bit and my husband went downstairs to eat some lunch...the 30 minutes he was gone my contractions got pretty intense and close together so they gave me nubaine which my husband said i'm not allowed to get again because it made me loopy haha!
After about an hour the nubaine wore off and I was feeling contractions again so the doctor came in to check me and I was at 4cm and fully effaced (i was 2cm and fully effaced at my doctors appointment a few days before) so they said i could get the epidural. At about 2:30 my best friend came in and gave me the epidural lol. It didn't hurt at all going in and the relief was unexplainable. I took a few naps and watched some tv and talked to my husband when around 5:30 I started to feel some pain again through my epidural. The nurse let me up the amount i was getting and I had to wait 20 minutes for the relief again. The doctor came in to check me around 6pm and she goes "ohhh, well! You're complete and his head is right there! It's almost baby time!" They were expecting me to be just starting transitional labor.
Then things went fast, everyone got ready to go and I did some pushes with the nurse. She then called the doctor and I kept pushing and Mr. Jack was born at 7:26pm. I tore in one spot...I didn't ask where it was and I haven't looked but it was the easiest labor, delivery and recovery and I have the best little guy! I'm glad to have had a positive induction story since i've only heard bad things about it!! Thanks for reading!
Re: Jack's birth story!
Thanks for posting, it's nice to have a story where everything went well!! It makes me less terrified.
Congrats on your little boy!!
We are naming our baby Jack, also! It's funny, I picked it because it was one I didn't hear a lot, and now it seems I hear it every where, lol.
Congrats on your baby boy!!
