Gassy Baby

Hi June Moms,

I need some help figuring out formula...

My DD is 10 weeks old and doing really well. We have noticed over the past few weeks her intake of formula (we FF exclusively using Good Start) has not increased and her weight gain has slowed down a bit.

We have also noticed she can get REALLY gassy. By the end of the day she is burping and passing a lot of gas. Sometimes we can burp her hours after a feeding and she has a ton of burps. She doesn't spit up too much and the volume isnt too much either.

Is it possible that her gassiness is making her eat only enough to take the edge off? She eats consistently 21.5oz per day. I know she should be more around 25-28.

If your LO has been gassy what formula has helped? Any input would really help, Thank you!

  • When DD was around 6 weeks, we switched to Similac Sensitive for fussiness and gas.  But, she was having pain and would wake up screaming from gas.  All babies have some gas...does it seem to be bothering her?  Can you ask her doctor?  I talked to mine before we switched formula.

  • My LO has been gassy since day 1. Talk with your pedi. We use Enfamil Gentease and put simeticone (Mylicon) drops into her bottles. She takes 5 bottles per day and I think the drops go in 2-3 each day. We couldn't take the gas pain howling. I felt terrible that I had no way to help. This has worked for us. Good luck.

  • My son is the same way! We had to switch him to the similac purple can (alimentum). His gassiness went away almost instantly. We had tried sensitive, and the drops as well, nothing seemsed to work. I feel your pain! Good Luck
