My son is 10 months old and really isn't eating a lot of table food. He had a huge spitting up problem before but I think we have things under control with his new medicine. He still takes 5-6 bottles a day is only eats tiny amounts of table food but not enough to eliminate a bottle.
How much table food is your baby eating and what are you giving them?
Re: What is your baby eating and how much?
I EBF and still feed DS I'd say an average of every 5 hrs(b/c he sleeps a little longer at night). But he LOVES food. I have to give him 3 meals a day or he gets mad. Hes pretty much eating anything(within reason). I recently bought him some of the Gerber Graduates raviolis, and he about ate the whole thing in a sitting!
Each kid is different, and if yours will be ready when they are.
I EBF also, but I work/pump. Sam's food intake is basically dictated by his daycare schedule and we try to maintain that on off days for consistency.
He bf upon waking at 5:30 or so. After that he sits in his highchair and eats a handful or two of Cheerios while I make my lunch.
At 9am or so he eats cereal, either oatmeal or mixed grain, with fruit puree stirred into it and then a little bit of whatever the bigger kids are eating--muffin, other fruit, etc. Then he gets 4oz of bm or nurses before his nap.
At noon he gets the same, only usually vegetables with his cereal and a little bit of casserole or whatnot. Another bottle or boob, another nap.
At 3pm they have a snack, typically a cracker or muffin. If he has a snack at home it's usually yogurt melts or Cheerios.
He nurses at 5:30pm when we get home and again around 7:30-8 before bed. Sometimes he gets a little food at dinner, sometimes more Cheerios, nothing hard and fast. Depends on what we're doing/eating. He is ok without any additional solid food if he nurses.
Wow, this got long. I guess the short answer is--lots of Cheerios, lol. He doesn't seem to really have a desire for food the way some his age do. I think he'll let us know when he needs more.
DS takes 3-4 bottles a day (7-8 oz) and 2 meals. Sometimes I give him 3 but not always. Here's an example of what he ate yesterday.
9-10am- 1st bottle
10-11am-breakfast, pancake, banana, yogurt drops and a jarred food
12:30-bottle
1-3pm-nap
3pm-snack time, yogurt drops, puffs, teething cookies, mum mums, fruit etc. Sometimes I'll give him other things to make it a "meal" or he'll just get a bottle. Yesterday he just had a few cookies and puffs
6pm-dinner, jarred food, blueberries, puffs and 2 mum mums
8:30-bottle
9pm-bedtime
You can do other foods like toast, cheese, pieces of veggies, meats, etc. I plan on trying pieces of grilled cheese next. You can pretty much give them anything but the forbidden foods at this point. I also keep up with the 3-4 day rule because I still want to watch for any possible reactions.
We don't eat a ton of table foods either. She would eat puffs all day, if I let her, though.
She still gets 4 6-oz bottles a day (and one small one in the morning and one at night sometimes). She'll eat almost a jar of pureed fruit in the morning mixed with cereal, some snacks during the day (puffs, bites of fruit, etc), about half a jar of pureed food at lunch mixed with cereal, and sometimes she'll eat about half a jar for dinner too, but sometimes she doesn't want it. If we're out, we'll give her some of our food too, if she wants it, but she's not too crazy about it yet, but we're getting there...She only has like half of two teeth, so I'm still being careful about what to feed her.
DS gets 3 bottles (8 oz each) during the day and then wakes up around 4 am for another 8 ounce bottle.
We do 3 "meals" a day plus snack and a sippy cup with water or juice (recommended by pedi to help with constipation). He eats just about anything! Yogurts, meats, cheeses, crackers, chopped up fruits and veggies, pasta, etc. Vary rarely do we even offer baby foods any more unless he is refusing the veggies. Then I do offer pureed vegetables to make everything more balanced.
Each baby is different and will do things when they are ready.
This is my guy's typical schedule during the week, when things are more...scheduled:
7am - breakfast, usually yogurt and fruit
8am - nurse
11am - lunch at daycare. He has a bottle of pumped milk, and whatever DH and I have for lunch. Today he had a cheese and avocado sandwich, and some orange bell pepper.
2:30pm - snack at daycare. He has a bottle of milk, and something I send in. Today it's watermelon.
5:30pm - nurse
6:30pm - dinner. He has whatever DH and I have for dinner. Tonight we're having sundried tomato polenta cakes with green salad.
7:30pm - nurse
Usually wakes up once between 7:30pm and 7am to nurse.
7:30 Breakfast: 1/2-3/4 jar Gerber fruit and cheerios
8:30 Sippy of 6 oz milk
11:00 Lunch: 1/2-3/4 jar Gerber "dinner" and veggie puffs and sometimes bites of whatever the kids at daycare are eating
12:30 Bottle of 6 oz milk
3:30 Yogurt and goldfish
6:00 Dinner: 1/2-3/4 jar Gerber vegetable, string cheese, and puffs and sometimes bites of whatever we're having
