Hi!
I was adopted as a baby, and I grew up knowing I was adopted. I didn't actually get to meet my biological mother again until I was 15, she said it was too painful to think about seeing me before then. We don't talk often, but we keep each other updated on how we're doing. She came to my graduation and to my wedding. She's not my mother, my mother is my mother, but I am thankful to her for giving me life and caring about me so much, and compromising her feelings to let my parents raise me. I met my biological father two years ago, but we haven't kept contact.
It's not a big deal to me, it's just how I have grown up. I don't know if this is helpful at all, but if you have any questions about my adoption experience please feel free to ask!

Now that I'm trying to get pregnant, I am definitely thankful to have contact with my biological mother for medical and genetic reasons, and I am thankful that my biological father and paternal grandmother have given me their medical/genetic history on paper.
I wish you moms and dads out there adopting that things go well!
Re: I'm adopted
Hi!
I guess I should have clarified that a little bit! She did send me some letters before we actually met, but they were few and far between. We talked on the phone on my birthdays from the time I was 12 until I was 15, but she felt she couldn't handle meeting me again in person until then. She did have two other children several years after I was born.
