Looking for a train table....do any of them come with tracks and trains? Where is the best place to get the accessories at a decent price I know it can get expensive!
We aren't giving DD the train stuff I bought until her 2nd birthday at the end of the month so I can't really vouch from personal experience but I will share what I have learned so far (I did a lot of "train research" before ordering)
1) Train tables for most kids (not all, of course) become a waste. Once they start to build more than just the basic train circle they will want to spread out/build bigger than the table allows so they will end up building on the floor anyway.
2) The Thomas stuff is really expensive! DD isn't Thomas obsessed just train obsessed so I figured I would push Thomas if I didn't have to.
3) I wanted a wood set that had good reviews and took a lot of different train brands
so this is what I ended up ordering....
I plan to keep trains and tracks in a storage bin in a toy storage organizer that we already have.
We got the Imaginarium City Central Train set for my son's first bday. Really good deals during Black Friday so got it for $100. Heard it was going for $80 at one point. Anyhow, my son is now 20 months and still taking it apart but loves it otherwise!
I picked up an entire storage crate full of Thomas trains, tracks, bridges, blocks, etc. at a yard sale for $10. That included the plastic crate, too. Awesome. Would have easily cost over $200 new. Check out yard sales in your area if you can!

Dear God, Since I couldn't hold my little one in my lap and tell him about you, could you hold him in your lap and tell him about me?
I found a train table at a garage sale with drawers and a reversible table top.It was pretty worn but functional. I painted one side of the top table with chalk board paint and the other i painted a mural of a birds eye view of a valley. Then mod podge bright green wrapping paper around the rest of the train table. My boys love it! They use an electric train set DH bought them for christmas.

They have lots of other add on but these are the pieces we are starting with.
These are the trains we ordered. If she ended up getting Thomas trains they will work on the tracks too.

PgAL and PAL always welcome...GL!
I scored a like new PBK train table and tons of accessories on CL for $90. I think I priced it all out to be about $500.
I dislike those cheaper looking train tables with paintings on them, this one is all wood with 2 drawers underneath.
