Ughh...I had an RE appointment this morning and was supposed to have an IUI tomorrow. No such luck. My lining is too thin, so this cycle is a waste. My RE says we will try Femara next cycle. Whatever. I'm starting to really think that this won't happen for us. I don't know why this appointment today was such a bummer. I cried all the way to work, then had to suck it up to teach for 3 hours. Now I'm back to crying in my office.

PS: I hope I don't sound too overdramatic. I know that in the grand scheme of things this is just a small bump in the road and that we still have a chance. It is just frustrating that I had so many cycles where there was no diagnosed reason for me not getting pregnant (ovulating, good lining, good sperm) and now my effort to do something (i.e., Clomid) has given me a reason (i.e., thinned lining) not to really even try this cycle.

    I'm sorry. I hate clomid. I forget your age but clomid is not good for women as they approach 40 etc.  It is notorious for thinning your lining. I am still mad about the one cycle I did with clomid where they still the IUI-- once I saw my records later after switching- I saw that my lining was under 6. Why did they even do the IUI? Pissed me off. It had no chance of working and they never mentioned it. At least your RE is being straight about it. Not that it makes it hurt less I know..

    McIrish, you are right -- at least my RE is shooting straight with me (lining was 5.2).  I'm 37.5 and I definitely think I fall into the close enough to 40 that clomid is a waste of time.  I'll be glad to move on next cycle but I am sorry that I wasted the last 3.  I feel like time is slipping away...

    I'm so sorry Owlprof, how very frustrating. Are you just doing Clomid for this cycle?

    I'm sorry you are crying but glad you have an office to cry in if it has to happen!

    TTC since 3/2010. Me 41, DH-49. After 3 years, 6 IUIs and several IVFs we have finally have our beautiful baby girl, born on 11/7/13.

    ME:46 MH:44 DE IVF 2014
    Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive.  Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

    DE IVF #1 (4/26) BFN  DE FET #1 (6/4) BFP! Beta 1=339 Beta 2=852 Beta 3=9957 EDD 2/22/15!!

    I'm sorry, owlprof. When so much of this process involves waiting, it's perfectly understandable to be upset over not even getting to IUI this cycle. Good luck moving forward.

PGD results 1 normal M and 1 normal F, 1 maybe M. FET 9/6, transferred 1 F embie. Beta 9/15 BFN. FET#2 planned for 11/2012 put off until 2013. Surprise BFP 11/21/12!! My son was born on 7/24/13!

    FET 4/28/2015 - Transferred 1 M embie. 5/6/15 BFP!

    I'm sorry Owlprof.  I've never used Clomid, but have read about the risk of a thin lining.  Hopefully Femara will be a better option for you.
    TTC since 10/09 Me-43 DH-44 RE and testing 10/10-11/10, Recommending IVF 1/11 New RE AMA and DOR-DH low motility IVF #1.1 cancelled 3/11 due to poor response IVF #1.2 May 2011, one perfect 8-cell embryo, 3dt-BFN, IVF #2.1 Converted to IUI d/t poor response. New RE 9/2011. IVF 2.2 completed using HGH,EPP,DHEA, Q-10 and accupuncture. Transferred one 8-cell, grade one embryo on 10/19. BFP 10/31/11 Chemical pregancy on 11/2/11. Started stims for IVF #3, our final try, on 12-2-11. ET on 12/18. Transferred 3 Grade A embryos-BFFN Planning DE IVF, late March/early April- Donors ER expected to be 4/2-4/4. PAIF/SAIF welcome

    I am so sorry but am glad that your RE has a plan for you going forward.  I never liked Clomid.  I hope that Femara works its magic for you.  (((Hugs))))

    I am so sorry, that stinks, but as another poster said at least the dr is honest with you.  Sounds like a good dr.  And you did not have to have that shot for no reason.  Next month is another chance :)  Good luck!

    Ugh, I am so sorry, Owl! It's so frustrating to have to "waste" a cycle at this stage of the game. I don't know why anyone uses Clomid anymore, when Femara is around. I hope you can take this month to just enjoy some of the things you've been depriving yourself of because of TTC and that will help your body get geared up for next cycle. ((hugs))

    I'm sorry - this process can be so frustrating!  I don't have experience with clomid - but from the other ladies experience sounds like Femara is the way to go - I hope you get better results with Femara on your next cycle. 

    Me 38 MH 41 - TTC since June 2010 - dx with Severe MFI. Straight to IVF with ICSI. IVF #1 - ER 06/13/12 - 9 Eggs Retrieved - 4 ICSI'd - only 2 fert. 06/15/12 - 2DT - 3 cell & 6 cell with fragmentation. Beta 06/29/12 - IVF #1 = BFN. 07/20/12 - WTF Appt -Told by our RE to quit IVF. Second Opinion from RE is good. IVF#2 - November 2012. Estradiol Pills Started 11/6. Stims start 11/16. ER 11/26 - 7 eggs retrieved - all mature. 4 fertilized with ICSI. ET 11/29 Transferred 3 embryos. Beta is 12/10. 1st Beta 81 2nd Beta 160 and 3rd beta 360!!! First U/S 12/21/12 - We saw one beautiful gest. sac. 2nd U/S is 01/04/2013 - H/B 183 02/05/13 - NT Scan - everything looks good and IT'S A BOY!  Aiden was born 08/20/2013.

    IVF #2 is in progress.  ER was 05/12/14 - 11 eggs retrieved, 8 fertilized with ICSI.  ET was 05/15/14 - we transferred 3 embryos as we did on the cycle my son was conceived.  We were able to freeze 3 embryos. Beta is scheduled for 05/26/14.  1st beta - 111.  2nd beta - 159 didn't double :( 3rd beta Friday 5/30) - not a lot of hope left. Beta # 3 is 247 - probably ectopic.  Beta # 4 is 813 - possibly vanishing multiple sydrome?  06/05/14 - 5w4days - first U/S - we see a gestational sac and yolk - still have hope!  06/17/14 - 7w1day - U/S and saw and heard the heartbeat - Finally!  06/27/14 - 8w4days - Baby and heartbeat look and sound great :)  EDD 02/01/14 and It's a boy!

    BFP! Out of nowhere, I got KU the old fashioned way! POAS 1/26/14 - Positive! FDLM 12/30/13. Beta #1 16dpo= 373. Beta #2 18dpo= 801. EDD 10/6/14
    2/4/14 1st U/S revealed a 5wk2day sac but no fetal pole. Started 200mgs of progesterone suppositories daily
    2/11/14 2nd U/S revealed a perfect 6wk1day "diamond ring" embryo with a beating heart! 138bpm! Add 1mg folic acid and 40mg Lovenox
    2/25/14 3rd U/S: perfect 8w1d embryo, 178bpm. 3/6 start spotting. 3/11 10w1d U/S shows no heartbeat. Scheduling D&C. The Stork has forsaken me again.
    IVF #5.2: New in-state RE. Supplement priming for 1.5 cycles prior to start of cycle, including DHEA 50mg (stopped 5/15), CoQ10 200mg 2x/day, L-Arginine- 1000mg 2x/day (stopped 6/5 due to cold sore!), myo-inositol- 2g 2x/day, melatonin- 3mg, and Neevo (prenatal for MTHFR).
    5/16/14 Day 2 bw cycle prior: FSH- 12.22, E2- 38.37, Prog- 1.35, LH- 9.46. 6/2/14 Day 19 bw: Prog- 23
    6/12/14 Baseline: E2- 122.7, Prog- 0.4. 5 follicles in left, 4 follicles in right. Start stims: 375IU Follistim & 150IU Menopur. 6/19 Increase Follistim to 425IU, Menopur still 150IU. 6/18 add Ganirelix. 6/23 Ovidrel trigger SQ. 6/25 ER: 8R, 8M, 5F naturally. Start Medrol & Doxy. 6/26 Start Endometrin. 7/2 Start Lovenox.
    7/8/14 Beta= 137.4 BFP!!! (My first from IVF!) E2- 1109, Prog- >60. Stop CoQ10, myo-inositol, and melatonin. 7/9 2nd Beta= 281.4. TSH- 2.70. Increasing Synthroid to 100mcg daily. 7/24 6w3d u/s measured 6w3d, hb: 121bmp! 8/5 8w1d u/s measured 8w3d, hb: 164bpm! Graduated from RE to OB. Now I just need to find an OB!

    My RE said clomid is notorious for that, she put me on femara instead. I hope that works better for you!
